There's nothing to be fighting about. LEague and AFL can both share this big city. The only thing we can't share is bigheaded boffins like beaussie and AFL 'Warrior' constantly stating how good their code is. Topper on the other hand had it right when he said something along the lines of "to suggest AFL is bigger than league would be highly contentious" after saying "the NRL is the biggest league in the world"

The NRL is the strongest league in the world - in RL. Just to clear that up. I have already corrected the other half.

That aside, yes I agree. There is no reason why RL and AFL couldn't share Sydney. However the issue is that RL leaders are sitting on their thumbs and not competing.

All to RL :D
Huh, none of our expansion clubs have failed. We have actually continued our spectacular growth in our traditional and expansion markets.

You lot on the other hand... hmm, lets see, Perth... failed, Adelaide... failed, Melbourne... financial basketcase, south east QLD... failed, Gold Coast... failed 3 times already. Nice record you lot have there.

Fitzroy where are they now?

Brisbane Bears, where are they?

University, where are they?

North Melbourne, how many cities have they been run out of now?

West Sydney, Canberra, Gold Coast and soon to be Tas, oh and Melbourne seeing as they can't survive down there.

And Perth and Adelaide did not fail in RL, they were squeezed out because of the SL war, but you know this already, you just seem to like lying all the time.

I guess it's a hard habit to break aye bearsey?

Also, the Storm have been making a profit.

The money they get is to run Rugby League in victoria, not the Melbourne Storm.

SE QLD was murdered by news corp to protect their precious Broncos during the SL war.

I seem to remember the Gold coast Chargers making a profit back in 1997, they got the arse for the same reason the Crushers did, to protect the Broncos and News corp.

You seem to forget that the Brisbane Bears failed on the gold coast too. Dumbarse.

I love how they always blame News Ltd for financial basketcases having to fold in Rugby League. So lame how that wont face up to reality. Funny all the same though I guess.

the fact is if they had a decent fan base, membership and were making money they would not of failed. I cant imagine a competition in the world that has tried to expand so many times and keep failing at it.

but it just does not happen in Australia. Look at what happened in the UK

Castleford, Wakefield Trinity and Featherstone Rovers would form Calder
Hull and Hull Kingston Rovers would form Hull"
Whitehaven, Workington Town, Barrow and Carlisle would form Cumbria
Warrington and Widnes were to form Cheshire
Salford and Oldham were to form Manchester
Sheffield and Doncaster were to form South Yorkshire

So many clubs having to merge to stay afloat.

And are those clubs still there moron?

None of those clubs merged you idiot and everyone of them is still playing the game, most in SL.

Yes, most in SL, there we go, something AFL will never ever ever have outside Australia LMAO.

Fancy fumbletards having a go at another sport and its clubs in another country.

Haha, only ******** could be that dumb.

You peckers and along with Vlad would cut off your left nut or kill your own mother to have the footprint RL does and that's the damn truth.

Green is a pretty colour, but it can also be very ugly when the envious are looking on.

For heaven's sakes, eels fan, you never let facts get in the way of a good losing argument do you?

This is the only one you got right.

Still alive and kicking as the Brisbane Lions.
eels fan wrote:

Fielding two teams in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, including reserves. I know this because I played for Uni Blacks. They had to leave the VFL because they had no players due to the casualties for World War 1.
eels fan wrote:

One. And they would have taken up the Gold Coast offer if James Brayshaw hadn't become President and insisted that they stay in Mebourne.

Now you are being foolish talking about Melbourne like that, Tasmania already have a ready made sponsor, in fact they got one before GWS did while they were trying to tell the AFL they were making a mistake. Tasmania are apparently set to be the 19th team when the time comes, and some of the game's absolute legends come from the Apple Isle. Two have come from Canberra as well.
eels fan wrote:

They most certainly did fail. Crowds were terrible in both cities, particularly Adelaide. Do you think they would have been squeezed out if they were drawing good crowds? No they would not have.
eels fan wrote:

There is no RL anywhere in Victoria aside from the Storm that I am aware of.

News Corp own the NRL, not the individial clubs you fool.

I heard that this was only because the Bears started without a relationship with the state league. Once a relationship was established, it was on the proviso that they move to Brisbane. If this is true then it was the lack of said relationship that adversely affected the Bears at Carrara.

So the Brisbane Lions are the Brisbane Bears?

LOL, idiot.

And don't ever try and put one over RL in other countries with their crowds cause it's something your code will never ever have and that makes you envious.

Yes the Brisbane Lions are the Brisbane Bears.

And RL in Australia has bigger crowds than RL anywhere else in the world. With the crowds actually small by AFL standards this is a bad thing. You envy AFL crowds.
