I'm happy to be proven correct as always with the AFL remaining the market leader on all the key indicators. You up for that simple bet Raider? Be warned, the last report linked previously shows just how big the gap was and still is.

The NRL just likes to think they are a threat to the AFL. This garbage code called the NRL is just like an annoying pest that is wanting attention. A shotgun will deal with this problem.

And you have an updated ABS report that shows otherwise? Didn't think so.
the current census is not complete you wombat

but I can assure you
flogball will see a massive decline ...
Rugby League .... massive growth

Gee, its not like Beaussie to try and twist people words to win a arguement, so why would he now try and twist the bet to suit himself :_<> .

Read the above Beaussie, this is what Raider suggested and you opened your trap wanting to bet on it, so if AFL popularity has declined and RL has grown, then you lose and vice versa.

That fails to take into account the fact that AFL games are simulcast on FTA TV and Pay TV whilst all NRL games are either exclusive to FTA TV or Pay TV. As any AFL supporter will tell ya, they would rather watch the Foxtel broadcast without ads. The figures therefore are misleading pussycat and I'm sure you know that just as much as me. Poor effort pussycat.

Are you kidding? It's a much greater advantage having more games on FTA given PTV only goes to around 30% of the potential adience

The FTA figures are obviously reduced when the majority of AFL fans with Pay TV prefer the Foxtel broadcast. Can't believe you cannot understand that simple logic. #-o

then explain the figures for the below games .. the biggest ones of the year
everyone of them ... for both codes ... on FTA only ?

1 NRL Origin 3 (3,736,000)
2 NRL Origin 1 (3,478,000)
3 AFL Grand Final (3,418,000)
4 NRL Origin 2 (3,381,000)

9 AFL Colling V Hawthorn (1,571,000)
10 NRL Broncos V Dragons (1,548,000)
11 NRL Tigers V Warriors (1,382,000)
12 NRL Rnd 24 Storm V Dragons (1,379,000)
13 NRL Broncos V Warriors (1,368,000)
14 NRL Rnd 25 Manly V Storm (1,354,000)
15 Rugby World Cup Aust V Ire (1,350,000) ** 430K pay tv added
16 AFL Hawth V Geelong (1,317,000)
17 AFL Hawth V Sydney (1,310,000)
18 AFL Geelong V West C (1,269,000)
19 NRL Melb V Newc (1,236,000)
20 AFL Carlt V West C (1,217,000)

no hiding behind targeted or split audiences for either code here is there
its code v code on an equal footing

& a right royal whopping for the AFL..... again

Oh dear, please try and keep up Raider. I've already pointed out that AFL games are simulcast on FTA and Pay TV with AFL fans preferring the Pay TV option with no ads. That naturally reduces the FTA audience numbers. The NRL does not a similar arrangement where audiences can be split between FTA and Pay. Like I said, do keep up sunshine. #-o

What Final matches/rep matches, in either code, are shown on Pay TV??? Because isn't that all that's shown on that list except for the bottom couple?

What exactly is your point?

My point is quite simple, that list, the one you claimed was influenced by Pay TV contains little or no pay TV matches.

And the SMH article shows the results for all AFL/NRLwatched on tv (anykind). With the AFL enjoying extra matches on FTA and the NRL more on Pay tv it is the NRL who are disadvantaged with pay TV going to just 30% of viewers
