So now you are comparing the ratings of two melbourne based sides against the 1 RL side in the home of AFL. =D> that is pathetic
Throwball fans have been doing exactly the same for years when comparing AFL/Swans tv ratings in Sydney. Still pathetic when it's NRL fans doing the comparisons? Hmm, hypocrite.
So ummm is this a case of monkey see monkey do Beaussie? Does this make it fine for you to do the same?

Hmm I dont think hypocrite is the term you should be using here...
There is only one hypocrite on this site and we all know that is beaussie, let talk manipulated of figures. He keeps hiding the regional figures, again and again and again with no substantial backup. There is the biggest manipulation ever.

So TV Tonight, SMH - The Tribal Mind, Media Spy and other tv ratings sites in Australia are all manipulating figures as well are they as they only present the metro ratings. Those are the exact places I source the ratings from for this site. It time you throwball fans learnt to deal with the reality that only the metro tv ratings matter to broadcasters and media buyers.

Don't like it... tough that's how it is.

Are yes one of the other great AFL myths to justify their importance ie
'regional viewers" dont matter. Especially because the greater majority follow NRL and give the NRL higher ratings than the AFL.

Firstly when simply working out who gets the most people to watch -where ever they live - the NRL wins and the gap is getting better.

Secondly on the idea that TV stations dont care about regionals the fact that they actually have regional ratings might be a slight clue that some one thinks these markets have value. It might be organizations like NBN/WIN who kind of make their money selling advertising to companies to advertise in these regional areas.

The next statement from the AFL crew will be" they never see the regional broadcasters at the deal signings" as if they know who they are in the first place. But too seriously suggest that the TV stations who prime the contracts dont have arrangements/knowledge of who they onsell to prior to committing hundreds of millions of dollars shows a high level of naivety on the way the model works.

When the next NRL deal comes in at billion dollars plus it would appear that the regionals have been suddenly found or perhaps other factors.

It should be noted that I have mention in the past to this AFL bozzos that marketing campaign certainly use regional figures. I have a family member who is involved in multi-million dollar marketing campaigns and they have assured me that the regional figures are just as important to them as ozTam. So if they are paying big money to have their adverts put on regional tv, I am sure they will be in the count when the next deal is struck.

Adverstising for the local butcher or car yard is hardly what the big tv networks take into account in the capital cities when bidding for tv rights/programming. Tell me when was the last time you heard anyone seriously taken into account regional markets other than throwball fans and their media. No one cares. When will you mongs get it. No one cares... NOT TV Tonight, NOT SMH Tribal Mind, NOT Media Spy and more improtantly the tv networks with headquarters in the capital cities. I know if pains you to accept this reality but you really do need to move on and accept it.

Classic AFL regional response that seems to believe that regionals are small scattered communities of a few farmhouses. As opposed to the reality of some of the biggest cities in this country eg Newcastle,Canberra(might know that one), Wollongong,Cairns,Townsville even Ballarat etc etc

Having been to all these places I must say it was truly amazing to find that they had McDonalds,KFC, Pizza Hut, Coles,Woolworths and just about everyone else who advertises on the TV these days. Why they even had bank branches.

Means nothing at the end of the day to the tv networks doing the bidding in the capital cities. These very tv networks based in the capital cities only care for their metro ratings like everyone else who reports on tv ratings. Like I said, time for you to accept it and move on.

AFL/Swans final still rates better in Sydney than a NRL/Storm final rates in Melbourne. That is an undisputed fact.

Oh and a Sunday afternoon AFL game rates better in Melbourne than a prime time NRL final in Sydney. Why aren't NRL passionate about finals. Absymal crowds and tv ratings as we saw last week. Shocking.
Swans shoved down the throat of Sydneysiders in prime time for 20years or more

the Storm have been shown live in Melbourne about 10 times in the last 13 years & hardly anyone knew this one just gone was even on :?

& the Swans got 30K more veiwers
good job

the Swans are a joke
the Storm are doing better then them on TV already :_<> :(/ :_<> :(/

Prime time Swans for over 20 years. Fuck you are dumb. Wake up Raider, your posts sounds dumber and dumber each and every time you post. #-o

Meanwhile it doesn't matter how many premierships the owners of the NRL buy Melbourne Storm, no one is interested in Victoria.... 86,000 viewers and just over 14,000 crowd for a final. :(/

yes you're right again ... surprisingly
its more like 25

86K & 15K for the Storm ... only 13 years in Melbourne , & 1 title
127K & 19K for the Swans .... 30 years in Sydney & 1 title

a win to the Storm for mine
& quite a clear one too

Spot on enarelle. this is something I've also tried to educate beaussie on but he seems stuck back in the 80's when it comes to regional australia. He hasnt even been in a regional town for decades I reckon. He took one visit to Alice Springs recently, which is classified as REMOTE Australia and see's some amateur adds and believes this represents regional australian television.

I'd like to add again that regional Australia is growing at an enormous rate. Those involved in the tv rights deal will have all this info handy, which will no doubt boost the rights deal.

The tv feed in Alice Springs is direct from regional QLD with ads for local butchers, fruit shops and car yards in regional areas as far away as Townsville. Relevance and value to broadcasters and viewers alike...

So is it some 'local' advertising in regional towns? Or is there also adds for bigger national retailers in a place like townsville? And remember you were in remote australia when you made your assumptions beaussie.

From my recollection on my visit to townsville this year there was plenty of adds for bigger national retailers... So I guess big bucks for the NRL regional ratings is a big possibility.

Yes I'm sure the tv networks based in the capital cities consider the local butcher and fruit shop in regional areas when negotiating their potential bids for sports rights. #-o
