it says that both Venues would either host one or the other
opener or Final
it didn't say just the final
the MCG was not going to get the final ... because FIFA wanted a rectangle venue

The MCG has a bigger capacity than Olympic Park. That's why it would have hosted it.

thats an assumption on your part thats all
Sydney .. Australias only " international " city would have been host to the final with the largest Rectangle stadium in the land
this is also an assumption & we'll never know for sure
but since the building of ANZ .. most of Soccers main matches .. have been held there
so my assumption has some basis

I remember reading that the capacity of the MCG would had been reduced during the WC because some of the seats didn't comply with the guidelines of minimum distance from the field of play.

I doubt that has any validity, Cooee.
We should be getting back on topic here.
Edit - Removed effort by Raider to keep this thread off topic

As of now, if you post here criticising my moderating you will cause the thread to be locked. Take it to Beau in PM or the Contact Us link.

But if I were running the NRL I would also steer clear of the MCG because as I said the atmosphere would be **** there. Even I wouldnt bother going if it were there, far too big and distant from the action. Even if you bought the best tiks you'd be too far away, just like the olympic stadium in Sydney. That's probably the main reason for the big drop in crowds there.
Yeah , the smaller Etihad has been sold out once & near sold out on the 2nd occasion
MCG is a hole ....
awful
they won't have any trouble selling Etihad out again in 2012
Um, update time. State of Origin will NOT be at Etihad Stadium next season. The game is scheduled for the 30k capacity AAMI Park according to article I posted in the OP. Surely a sign of popularity on the decline yeah.
MCG > Etihad Stadium > AAMI Park

Drongo eh? News Ltd are the owners of Rugby League in this country. I'm sure they know what's going on here. They sit at the board table for crying out loud. The game will be at AAMI Park due to decreasing crowds and popularity of the game in Melbourne.

for no apparent reason .....
Docklands for SOO in 2012
