I'll start with the 2010 Draft alone - one pick up in the draft itself. Trent Stubbs from the East Coast Eagles in Baulkam Hills to Collingwood.
And in the Rookie Draft - there were SIX! Including one from the Black Diamond AFL, even though the kid was from Woy Woy which of course is the Central Coast and not Newcastle. There was also a kid from Wollongong as well as the other four from Sydney AFL clubs!
Want me to keep looking back through the drafts, Raider? Or do you want to give it up now?

no keep going
you'll need to ...........
as per the question I asked... by my count
Sydneysiders ... who are playing at the elite AFL level .... 1
& near the elite level ... 1
you haven't said anything about where the other 4 are from .. in this Rookie draft , 1 from the gong & 1 from the Hunter &
you haven't provided one link to asscertain their origin
( onion breaths claim of there being " plenty from Newcastle .. being as per usual .. ludicrously wrong .. unless you claim 1 as .. " heaps "

)
& anyway
apples V apples .. & even allowing for the fact League has been in Melbourne some 17 years less then AFL has been in Sydney
theres 15 Melbournians playing RL at just below the elite level ... most of whom will get their start in the NRL in the coming years
some massive home grown talent coming through the Storms 1st rate development program.
miles ahead of the pathetic development results for AFL in Sydney .. despite I'd say the AFL spending 50 times the money the Storm has
game ova
as for

Two more for you, both playing for Sydney.
Craig Bird - recruited from Nelson Bay in guess where? The Black Diamond AFL!!
Paul Bevan - recruited from Western Suburbs AFL club (and his grand uncle Brian Bevan is an RL Legend apparently).
You want links?
http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/players ... fault.aspx
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Bird
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bevan
And I'll keep looking. At just below elite level, there are 16 on various rookie lists dating back to the 2007 rookie draft. East Coast Eagles have the best record.

by 2028

Hammer, whilst I take your point about crystal balling - there are precedents for AFL players originating in Sydney. Also, as far as I know the NRL does not have a rookie list in the manner that the AFL run.
There are no precedents for thugby players originating in Melbourne.

Why would us Victorians support or play a garbage game such as Ruby League?

I guess the same reason almost 90 thousand went to watch a rugby league match ..... the sporting community of Victoria are dead set bored to death by the current dribble there being dished up.

Sydney Rugby

are we talking about Randwick ... Eastwood
well they dream of getting NRL sized crowds too
& how many did Penrith Rugby get last time ?
their rugby team would of gotten about 200
their League side got 14 Thousand odd
about triple what GWS will get most weeks in a few years
