its going to be a really interesting finish but i reakon there will only be a fight for 8th and maybe 7th spot coz everyone from 8th down are 2 or more games away from 7th spot with 3 games to play i dare say the top 6 are safe and collingwood well who knows what they are going to do!!! but then you have the thing of what positions teams are going to finish which is also going to be really interesting i cant wait!!

Boy am I embarrassed! How dare Hawthorn get up over Brisbane!!
Geelong's capacity can't be increased because there would be a massive backlash from their co-tenants at Kardinia Park - St.Marys FC, Geelong CC and the Geelong Footy Umpires League. It would impinge on their capacity.
And the lights that are there are not to AFL standard for matches. Training lights only.
The minimum capacity for a finals venue is 50,000 I believe. That means York Park is also out (Hawthorn want to host a final down there apparently!). The only venues that fulfil that are the Gabba, the SCG (although probably not at the moment), Olympic Stadium, the MCG, Docklands, Footy Park and Subiaco. And I think the Gabba and Subi only just make it.

Who will take the final spots in the top 8 that are up for grabs? Am I right in thinking that should the Pies go down the Swans tonights and loose next week against the Crows, they are still certain to make the top 8?
I have a soft spot for the Lions and hope they can get into the top 8. As for my beloved Swans, well we need to win tonight and next week to ensure we participate in September action and hopefully - results going our way, we scrap into the top 4 as well. [-o<
Am travelling down to Melbourne today. Please Swans, don't break my heart like last week when I went up to Brisbane and was witness to the draw against the Lions.

i think if adelaide win tonite they are a damn good chance at beating collingwood next week and i think the swannies will make a mess of the pies so if collingwood lose their next 2 i think they will just sneak into 8th position! its going to be really exciting to see who makes it and who just misses out the way footy is being played these days who knows what will happen
My predictions now would have to be 1.cats 2.westcoast 3.port 4.sydney 5. Hawks 6.kangaroos 7.adelaide 8.collingwood

Well the weekend didn't pan out as I had hoped. Sydney's top 4 chances are blown now.Beaussie wrote:As for my beloved Swans, well we need to win tonight and next week to ensure we participate in September action and hopefully - results going our way, we scrap into the top 4 as well. [-o<

After the Bombers unexpectedly went down the Tigers last night, the Swans are finals bound, however if we play like we did against the Pies, well get thrashed this week by the Hawks and bomb out in the first week of the finals. It pains me to say this and I would loved to be proven wrong, but I think the Swans are just making up the numbers in the top 8.
