I agree with you on a couple of things Phelpsy, you've raised some good points. I could'nt agree more about the "changing culture" point, being a Sydneysyding NRL lover i attend as many games as I can, I just do'nt see why the supporters don't turn up like the AFL. The excuse that NRL is a better TV sport and AFL is better live is a load of shit, they are both genuine products to watch live at the game, the thing that the NRL lacks is atmosphere at the games because no one turns up. I think it is just the mentality of an NRL fan, AFL & Soccer fans have a mentality of actually getting to the game to watch it, NRL fans are more reluctant. More has be done by the NRL though, the NRL admin aare a joke compared to the AFL's and David Gallop now in soccer, is making Dave Smith look like a fool with the success of the Wanderers. The fans are not being heard either turning them off the game!
I'm glad that you agree with more point about growth even if it is a small step, you get one eyed code followers saying but thats not growth bla bla bla, when it's obvious that it is. I think the strategic visoion for the NRL was to increase crowd averages to 20,000 by 2017 so it's a good sign they they are already off the mark in achieving this goal. The NRL could learn alot about the way the AFL have conducted their growth in Oz. The thing RL has over the AFL is international football, recently it has'nt even used it to an advanatge but with the new NRL rep weekend, I am hoping that this will get the Pacific nations a chance to develop, the Samoa Vs Tonga game tommorow night (in front a good crowd in Penrith) should be massive and for the sake of every League fan I hope we see alot more of these games in the future.

Only one fool around here Raiderdave, when are you going to provide proof of your claims - never! Your a bald faced lier Raiderdave. I have no doubt that if you left NSW and lived in any of the southern states you would lower the net IQ of both states. No doubt repeatative brain trauma of those shoving their heads up other RL players ass's explains this! NRL Handball fudgepackers!

Port Adelaide currently on 38,085. Our second highest total ever, we should pass our membership record of 38,305 by the end of the week.

Not bad for a team that only won 8 of 44 games in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

I begrudgingly have to hand it to Port, and to Kochie/Haysman. The onfield success has certainly helped, but new sponsors were signed well before the winning began. If you beat the Eagles this weekend, 40,000 members is a basically assured, and will hold you in very good stead going into the city next year.
