Looks like as of last rounds tally the AFL crowds are up on the same time last year by 300 or so per game.
How is the nRL going anyone?

Interesting listen from some former players re: what needs to be done to address the drop in interest on both crowds and tv rating. I like how they just don't complain but actually put forward some solutions. What do others think that needs to be done to help get people to the game and stop the declining tv ratings?
For mine, I think they need to play state of origin outside of the home and away season. Truth is they could play SoO on Christmas Day and it would still be as massive as it is now. I don't see any reason to compromise the season proper for this series.

Is it as bad as everyone says? Triple M's Matty Johns and Mark Geyer tell us why crowd numbers watching the NRL are down.
"For mine it's simple. Too many teams, too many games, [and the game] lacks star power and excitement," said Matty, on Triple M's Grill Team.
"People might say [tickets] are too pricey, but if the quality is there people will go and watch it."
The solution? The salary cap needs to be restructured to keep stars in the game like Israel Folau and Benji Marshall, who announced his exit from the code last week.

The nRL will make another venue change, this one because officials fear there will be 75,000 empty seats at the Parramatta v St George game on Monday night. Apparently the same fixture last year got 40k to it, but only because of some bloke retiring. Interesting to know that the Eels won't honour their contract with ANZ as they won't be playing 3 games there this year if the game is rescheduled. Things just keep on getting worse for the nRL. Really embarrassing.

37k last night. Yet again the biggest crowd of the weekend in Sydney. When was the last time the Storm had the biggest crowd of the weekend in Melbourne?

The final AFL H&A average this year is 32168, representing a 2.1% increase in average crowds from 2012.
6,369,336 is the 2013 aggregate, up from 6,238,876 in 2012.
Wasnt Dave certain that the AFL crowds would drop again?
