Yep, the hypocrisy is, about time we started doing the same.
Bahahaha, and when we finish taking all the other RL comps on board, RL will have around 2 million participants off the bat just in Australia.

this means dwindling numbers of people participating in playing league, so they have to raid other comps to try any attract interest

Who won this one on 2013? Well I guess people will continue to argue about this for some time and this is what is the basis of this forum ... Mines bigger than yours. And people will continue to draw on one stat or another to support their argument.... Do you measure from the base or the top so to speak
Where the nrl comes close is Fta ratings .. Although the counting of regionals remains dubious, not that they don't count but just that there is no reliable way to measure. Hence why tv execs only go by metro. Once you add fox in though AFL do considerably well with ratings. Unfortunately fox don't give a city by city breakdown so it is hard to know each cities total figures for overall ratings. Nrl are now shown on gem into Perth and Adelaide which is a great move for them allowing people there some exposure. Whilst figures are very low there, they have no team and it is the first year ... So hopefully will grow over time and if Perth get a team .. Lets hope so for the sake of rl in this country. Melbourne figures for storm have also been good. I also read that AFL ratings are up 63 percent on last year in Sydney as well. So all going well there too.
So nrl v AFL ... The winner is ...... What ever code you follow... Cause it doesn't really matter.

Same way others are, with ratings box.
RL is followed more in the bush than it is in Sydney, but how do you get all those people to turn up on Friday / Monday nights when for Sydneysiders, it's near impossible for them?
Supporters of other codes in other states don't and for some reason can't see this.
