Parra, the VFL/AFL has a long standing relationship with News Corp (as it is now) going back decades. The Sun in particular was always supportive under the tiller of Herald and Weekly Times Limited, who until 1987 was owned by the estate of Sir Keith Murdoch - Rupert's Dad. Rupert in effect had a share in it but didn't formally own it until 1987.

So don't think for one second that New Corp has any control over the AFL. They don't own any clubs and can't, and have no seats on the AFL Board of Directors - and never will. Big difference.

Cronulla is in just as much trouble as Essendon, maybe more because they didn't co-operate at all at first! Tight shorts went out in the 80's so you still don't get it.
