& what has an attendance got to do with TV audiences ?
but by all means
add the weekly TV audience of 4 cats & a budgie to the VFL's tally

:_<> :_<>

so thats the NRL secret, to claiming a good TV Audience
throw in poker machines in the shitty leagues clubs, and there we have the NRL's viewers!
a good TV audience

fuck me
the dumbness
the rampant dumbness of fumblers

biggest media deal no quite, its only more because it includes nz as well.
the NRL Australian deal $1.025 billion
the NRL deal involves your part owners Newsltd & channel 9 running the NRL fixture & scheduling
the AFL Australian deal $1.253 billion
so suck it in the NRL looses
my team Essendon? lol we have argued this before and you lost but ill have to repeat my self again the the ******** league fan
having just spent $35 million on a new training faculty of course its going to put any club in debt. first time in the clubs 140 odd year history!
where can you start
considering their revenue and assets are twice the size of any of the NRL teams its no problem at all.

oh we're only including the Australian deal now ?
& even that's wrong
the Australian deal is 1.205 Bill all up TV online & naming
&
1.305 Bill with the Kiwis .....
I don't give a fuck who controls what ... we've got rid of the first & last rights clause ... we will now pound yr silly little Victorian crap sport into the ground in future media deals to come &... & gain control of our schedule as well , this deal was about putting cash in the Clubs hands & funding it at the grass roots level
learn to spell you uneducated fumbling singlet wearing fuckwit
its loses ... not looses
& **** got nearly every cent of that 35 Million from loans & the Vic Govt
they did not pay for it themselves so let go of yr tiny willy
& like most bumbling VFL clubs these days , they will probably go broke paying it & the interest off ....

Your article also says, "Once online rights and New Zealand broadcasting rights are negotiated, rugby league is expected to push beyond $1.2bn. Significantly, the NRL will provide one less game than the AFL each week, although international football and State of Origin, the jewel in the code's crown, were included as part of the deal."
What's your point about AFL government funding?

Also, the 7 million figure. it doesn't really specify if that is a one off thing, accumulated over several years to build the new centre or what...

You realise many nations didn't make it into the RLWC while the AFL will give anyone a team as long as they have 20 people?
Well? Why won't RL do it then? Oh I know why. Because RL isn't interested in expanding and developing the game worldwide. The AFL is and gives everyone a chance. RL is for the toffee nosed crowd only. What a joke.

Okay let me be clear. The RL is interested in having a professional tournament, yes there are issues with eligibility although personally aside from probably USA these aren't an issue. They are clear rules about decadency or citizenship in order to qualify. The problems occur with transfering and playing for more than one team. It's not perfect, but other sports also have many issues with this too.The international game will grow for other countries to be comparable and then rules will be tightened up even more.
The AFL has organised a comp where everyone is born and brought up in the country they represent. However, as a result it looses all legitmacy. Where are the crowds, the viewers for the AFL cup? not there cause no one cares even in heartland of AFL.
At the same time South Africa is bidding for the next cup, they want it. They probably won't get it, but it is a great source of publicity, money etc. if they do That's why 7 has outbid channel 9 for the rights even though all the games are between midnight and 7 in the morning.
This will be the biggest RLWC ever because it is a professional competition that has been marketted as such. Even the PM of england, Wayne Rooney, flintoff and many others have voiced their support:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSrpqM3c ... ture=share
Honestly, the only places I personally have heard of this cup has been either my own reserach on the web or a couple of times in trivia shows on tv, "Who has won the AFL international cup the most times" and i know it's always ireland.

watching a stream at the moment, tv is too far. I think it is bbc or premier sports. wow. no comparison with channel 9 circus. but least they are pumping the NRL full of a lot of money, wish we could have professional simulcast coverage. ratings would skyrocket.
