It is not about skin colour.
Historically aborigines were referred to as "blacks" everything else as "whites".
Same with the negroes in America and the RSA I believe.

What's changed? It's no longer about assimilation. Now it IS about celebration. It's not a throwback, and you're being mighty narrow in your thinking if you believe it is.
