No doubt. Fox Footy is absolutely dominating the Pay TV ratings.

The poll is run on, total audience figjures. How do you think we get rating figures? Do you think people who go and whatch the AFL one week are not included in the ratings the next week or person who goes to a club game and an Origin game should only be counted as attending just 1 game?
If I asked 10 people what fruit they eat the results could be:
Bananas 7
Blackburries 6
Strawberries 6
Plums 2
If blackberries (6) represented club football, & Strawberries (6) represented test football, then total berries = 12.

This poll is flawed - but even so, these figures, just like Roy Masters produced, show that league has a larger audience.

OMG! No no no! #-o
19k were polled with the same question. If 23mil were polled and all said they watched SOO, and half then said they watched NRL, would that mean 34.5million Australians watch SOO and RL? NO! The fact is Almost every NRL supporter who watches NRL also watches SOO. You don't add them together to show the total!

The poll isn't about the total audience of one season. It's about the proportion of Australians who watch sport. It shows more people watch AFL than any form of RL.

The main reason you can't add them together is because each category isn't an equal measure. SOO is only 3 games so it can't be counted the same as the NrL season. If these were simple ratings figures then fair enough but the poll is a measure of popularity irrespective of ratings.

If the same question was asked, And Rugby league wasn't divided into two categories we would have got a much different result!!!

Rubbish. The NrL v AFL figures are clear. The extra people who vote for SOO are probably from Southern states who watch SOO and no NRL, and from Northern states because it is an event not routine NRL. The ratings reflect this.

A bloke rings you on the phone and asks you if you want to take a survey. he asks a number of questions,

1. Do you watch the AFL Sometimes?....... always ?......... rarely?..........Never?.

2. Do you watch Origion Sometimes?....... always ?......... rarely?..........Never?.

3. Do you watch NRL Sometimes?....... always ?......... rarely?..........Never?.

4.Do you watch A-League etc.etc

each question has a total (projected)

Sure does, and far more fans said always and sometimes to the AFL than any other game. Clearly almost everyone who said always or sometimes to NRL also said yes to SOO.

As a measure of popularity of each code the AFL won easily.

And origin contributes 3 games per season. The NRL contributes 8 games per week over around 30 weeks. You therefore should never count them equally.

The poll isn't about which code rates the most. A poll would never be useful to figure that out because ratings vary with things like the schedule, the match ups, the individual team performances etc. The poll is about which code the Australian people watch.

It shows the AFL is a far more popular product on TV compared to the NRL, and even the SOO. It also shows that a number of people watch SOO but not the NRL season proper. I'd suggest many of these live in southern states.

What, this, survey shows is that the AFL is a more popular as long as you split the ARL into two groups. If someone from the Southern state people watches AFL and Origin whats the problem? I would bet it happens alot.

Are you saying the result would have been different if they have have had only one RL choice? Why? I can't see how it would have made any difference at all. The answer would still have been the same. more people said they watched the AFL. Less said they watched NRL. Obviously almost everyone who watches NRL also watches SOO.

This discussion/argument is about total viewers not the poll on popularity. If 3.9 m viewers watch thr NRL premiership and 4.9 watch Origin then that's a total 8.8m viewers for rugby league.
