I don't follow the ratings to closely but it seems that the logic behind the new expansion teams is working.
Not only is there one extra game (an extra 11%) but also the extra football(virtually football every week in the North)
is being reflected in higher ratings, higher ratings for AFL teams generally not just the home teams.

Hmm. Quiet on here today.
It's amazing how a 45% increase in TV ratings and a crowd of nearly 80k will scare some of our RL friends away. :D
I have a feeling they won't be back tomorrow either given tonight's game is even bigger!!

FN footy results in:
The AFL had 1 city targeted with one game delayed into their second and third markets on FTA. Results: 807k metro (Syd 23k Mel 467k Bri 39k Ade 161k Per 116k) 7 & 7mate. Foxtel ratings are still to come but expect around another 250k.
NRL had 3 cities targeted by 2 lives games and national coverage for the first time. Results: 660k (Syd 326k Mel 26k Bri 305k Per 3k) Late game 365k (Syd 207k Mel 20k Bri 131k Per 2k) Nine & GEM.
Smashing! =D> =D>
Observations:
1. The NRL game at 9.30pm!
2. The Melbourne storm rated 26k in Melbourne! This was live, prime time with no additional foxtel ratings.
The GWS swans game rated 82k plus around 40k on foxtel. Hmmmmm 120k v 26k
3. Brisbane's NRL ratings drop by over 50% when the broncos aren't playing! I wonder why the broncos are scheduled almost every FN!
4. Awesome results for the AFL, again!
5. When foxtel is added the AFL game could very well beat both NRL games, combined!

6. Perth rated 3k for live NrL and 2k on delay!
it appears Adelaide didn't even register!!

Lol cool story, NZ get NRL of Fox and will be doing a new TV deal in 2013.Xman wrote:Well let's examine this. So far the AFL have registered about 1 million viewers for each of 2 FTA & Paytv games, excluding regionals. Add the ratings for Saturday and Sunday day games of say 800k each, and you're looking at 3.6M per round.eelofwest wrote:Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... z1qctcXsMlXman wrote:244k for foxtel. https://mobile.twitter.com/#!/mediaweekaus
So that makes an even 1million for last nights AFL game between Richmond and Carlton! This does not include any regional ratings! =D> =D> nor was the game targeted to more than one audience. Plus it was on delay to SA and WA!
Good times this year for the AFL. Record ratings and crowds on the way! :D
So if i am a AFL Fan i can watch my Fox channel AFL in the lounge room and in the bedroom have the same game running on FTA? Now this seems like double dipping to me if this is the case?
2011 season review revealed rugby league had a cumulative audience of 134 million viewers, without including a further 12 million in New Zealand.
AFL 113 million, you blokes have no chance in hell at reaching 134 million let alone the extra 12million who watched in NZ last year. =D> =D>
Add the other 5 foxtel games conservatively rating around 200k each, and youre looking at 4.6M each round!!!
This is at least 1-1.5 Million extra viewers per round compared to the figures Beaussie has for AFL last year!!
Times this by 24 plus finals and the AFL should get around an extra 30-35M extra viewers compared to last season!![]()
And this doesn't take into account the fact that each AFL game has an extra 50% audience because of the extra hours running time!![]()
Oh, and counting NZ!![]()

cool story brew!
They also have the Warriors in the competition and expansion of a second team in the near future.
You only reply "cool story" because you have nothing else to say and know that the ratings gap is insurmountable no matter how many channels you play your 24 rounds of AFL. =D> =D>

26,000 viewers in Melbourne last night for a live NRL game involving the local top of the NRL table team the Melbourne Storm. Audience dropped a further 6,000 to just 20,000 for the 9:30pm game involving top of the table Broncos vs Dragons.
0 viewers in Adelaide for either game
3,000 for live NRL in Perth and 2,000 for the 9:30pm game.

Beau, given your usual excuses for not including regional figure in your ratings, Why do you show Pay TV? Pay TV is primarily a subscription run industry. Advertisers would have scant regaurd for Pay TV ratings, unlike Regional FTA ratings.

Oh we will. Get used to the AFL continuing it's dominance over the NRL in the tv ratings.pussycat wrote:Enjoy it while it lasts!
PayTV figures are accessible and cover the capital cities and the regional markets of Australia, unlike the flawed regionals that only cover some parts of Australia. That being the case, why not include them? You sound bitter that the AFL is growing its tv audience on FTA and PayTV. Like I said, get used to it pussy.pussycat wrote:Beau, given your usual excuses for not including regional figure in your ratings, Why do you show Pay TV? As for your final point, aren't you lot hoping Foxtel ups it's bid for your tv rights.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
Thats pretty shallow argument considering that the pay TV figures are less accurate and have an even smaller sampling rate.
I just thought you might like your ratings section, on this site. to actually mean something.

26k Viewers in Sydney for Collingwood vs Hawthorn, 30 years of coverage and 26k compared to 1 night of coverage for NRL 26k. The fact is the payTV samples are evenly counted from their entire market, unlike regional FTA counting. :Dpussycat wrote:Thats pretty shallow argument considering that the pay TV figures are less accurate and have an even smaller sampling rate.

So how will the NRL ever rate outside NSW and Qld? It will always be up against the AFL. Where are all these NRL fans across australia? You NRL fans have whinged for years about how your ratings would be better with national coverage. Now you've got it a grand total of 29k tuned in from 7million people!

15m accumulative audience? That was last year, excluded game length, season length, scheduling advantages, etc... It's over already champ. The AFL are looking at 4.5million viewers this first round, without regionals. It's over!
Tanking? You believe in Santa too don't you?!
