Lol cool story, NZ get NRL of Fox and will be doing a new TV deal in 2013.Xman wrote:Well let's examine this. So far the AFL have registered about 1 million viewers for each of 2 FTA & Paytv games, excluding regionals. Add the ratings for Saturday and Sunday day games of say 800k each, and you're looking at 3.6M per round.eelofwest wrote:Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... z1qctcXsMlXman wrote:244k for foxtel. https://mobile.twitter.com/#!/mediaweekaus
So that makes an even 1million for last nights AFL game between Richmond and Carlton! This does not include any regional ratings! =D> =D> nor was the game targeted to more than one audience. Plus it was on delay to SA and WA!
Good times this year for the AFL. Record ratings and crowds on the way! :D
So if i am a AFL Fan i can watch my Fox channel AFL in the lounge room and in the bedroom have the same game running on FTA? Now this seems like double dipping to me if this is the case?
2011 season review revealed rugby league had a cumulative audience of 134 million viewers, without including a further 12 million in New Zealand.
AFL 113 million, you blokes have no chance in hell at reaching 134 million let alone the extra 12million who watched in NZ last year. =D> =D>
Add the other 5 foxtel games conservatively rating around 200k each, and youre looking at 4.6M each round!!!
This is at least 1-1.5 Million extra viewers per round compared to the figures Beaussie has for AFL last year!!
Times this by 24 plus finals and the AFL should get around an extra 30-35M extra viewers compared to last season!![]()
And this doesn't take into account the fact that each AFL game has an extra 50% audience because of the extra hours running time!![]()
Oh, and counting NZ!![]()

They also have the Warriors in the competition and expansion of a second team in the near future.
You only reply "cool story" because you have nothing else to say and know that the ratings gap is insurmountable no matter how many channels you play your 24 rounds of AFL. =D> =D>![]()

Oh we will. Get used to the AFL continuing it's dominance over the NRL in the tv ratings.pussycat wrote:Enjoy it while it lasts!
PayTV figures are accessible and cover the capital cities and the regional markets of Australia, unlike the flawed regionals that only cover some parts of Australia. That being the case, why not include them? You sound bitter that the AFL is growing its tv audience on FTA and PayTV. Like I said, get used to it pussy.pussycat wrote:Beau, given your usual excuses for not including regional figure in your ratings, Why do you show Pay TV? Pay TV is primarily a subscription run industry. Advertisers would have scant regaurd for Pay TV ratings, unlike Regional FTA ratings.
26k Viewers in Sydney for Collingwood vs Hawthorn, 30 years of coverage and 26k compared to 1 night of coverage for NRL 26k. 26,000 viewers in Melbourne last night for a live NRL game involving the local top of the NRL table team the Melbourne Storm. Audience dropped a further 6,000 to just 20,000 for the 9:30pm game involving top of the table Broncos vs Dragons.
0 viewers in Adelaide for either game
3,000 for live NRL in Perth and 2,000 for the 9:30pm game.

The fact is the payTV samples are evenly counted from their entire market, unlike regional FTA counting. :Dpussycat wrote:Thats pretty shallow argument considering that the pay TV figures are less accurate and have an even smaller sampling rate.
I just thought you might like your ratings section, on this site. to actually mean something.
The AFL was two Melbourne teams, not a Sydney team. Plus they were on foxtel at the same time! last week the AFL rated 120k (foxtel and fta) in Sydney with the Gws and swans. the storm were live into Melbourne without foxtel coverage and got 26keelofwest wrote:26k Viewers in Sydney for Collingwood vs Hawthorn, 30 years of coverage and 26k compared to 1 night of coverage for NRL 26k.
