Of course it's the poor low rating Raiders who are relegated to the Speed channel for their match this Saturday night!



When nRL games clash on TV (which rarely ever happens) the impact it has on ratings is quite substantial.

Can we get the figures for averages since they have been in Sydney ? It would be easy to pick the best average crowd to compare to however as a statistic that's not really a good way to measure as the variables you have rightly pointed out can influence crowd numbers. What would possibly be more useful is to get the averages for each decade and compare those as it may level out the variables somewhat . Anyone have those ... You could add up total crowd numbers for the decade and divide by total of games or add the averages for each season and divide by number of seasons. ... That would be a good measure I think . However I think tv ratings are the best measure of penetration generally but you can't deny the swans membership numbers either .. Which is a good measure of niche market support at the least .

Speed ratings often are below 100k, so yes I am confident, besides, another 100k+ watched on 7 in Adelaide and 44k in Sydney on 7mate. Raiders ratings have been pretty bad so far this year, with only just over 200k watching on a stand alone Sunday night.

Bullshit. Monday night games are up against big FTA shows as well, yet regularly rate over 300k. The small ratings for the Raiders are exactly why they are never on Channel 9, because they don't want the low ratings that the arse Raiders bring.

I think I see what is happening here. There are actually two arguments happening here and both are correct. AFL people are saying that the swans draw good crowds, indeed generally better crowds than other codes in Sydney . This is true and a cold hard fact based on attendances in Sydney to football codes.

RD is stating that crowd numbers are declining ... Which is also correct ... Crowd numbers to swans home games have declined on average over the past seven years. This too is a cold hard fact.

Neither point however nullifies the other. If you have a high crowd numbers 50 percent higher than nrl games in Sydney or 100 times grater than union crowds and they drop by 20 percent you are still getting good crowd numbers comparatively just not as high as they used to be . So everyone stop arguing okay
