And they got the one they wanted tonight.
10 years of finals….I stand by my call.
The AFL will change the draft procedure because of what gold coast did this year…and the AFL will be wrong.
the AFL are trying to build powerhouses in QLD with the lions and suns>> it is stating the obvious
AFL are doing there best in comprising the comp with an unlevel playing field

Something the NRL have tried to do with the Storm for the past 30 at many levels
It’s good the Lions and Suns are capturing the interest of the kids, to the point they are choosing AFL and many being drafted.
Something the Storm and NRL are struggling with in Melbourne

It was not all that long ago that the general consensus was that Gold Coast (and, for some, Brisbane) were a basket case And would never succeed, vic sides plundered their best players.
I believe it is quite reasonable to have Qld clubs have first access to local players, it is a great way to promote the game in Qld and get local kids involved in the game.
The other clubs are annoyed because the Queensland academy system is far more productive than they expected.
I would introduce a drafting system that would give more incentive for clubs to draft local players.
Gold Coast managed this years draft very well indeed.
Go Suns.
Love to see a Suns - Lions grand final in the coming years.

never been a fan of the draft. (clubs should be nurturing there own talent) through grassroots development.
i think other clubs are also annoyed that the AFL are bending over backwards for Northern Clubs
and neglecting Victorian Clubs at there expense..

I would like to see a system where all states are encouraged to draft their own locals before drafting “interstate” players.
For Victoria I would like them go back to a regional zoning system…but recruits or potential recruits taking legal action led to the evolution of the draft and trade system we have today…attempts at equalisation further changed it.
