Stability ..you can call it that .peopel in the real world call it cheating...compromising the comp or just outright rigging the comp to ensure certain teams do well .

Lol you can call it stability..
But don't get upset when we laugh at the feeble attempts to justify the bulshit .

I dont get upset. I am amused however by your towering ignorance. But then, rugby league and expansion are words that just dont go together well.

Wookie , what is it with this expansion crap you get on about ? Do you people see it as some kind of weakness? Some type of a point ??? Is there a prize connected with expansion? I'm sure the NRL will expand when they feel like its the right time . They've simply been sitting back   as your mob totally fucks up!

The last time we put in an expansion team was the Gold Coat just 4 years prior to the AFL's last expansion! and Melbourne not all that long before that. The NRL has also expanded to New Zealand (you no overseas)(like crossing the Murray River 100's of thousand of times in one day). Something I'm guessing the AFL wont doing anytime soon :(/

They’re at about 200 odd million now. Enough moolah to bring several small third world nations out of poverty. Nrl players Izzy and hunt gladly smiled when they needed to smile, talked up the AFL when they needed to talk it up and snavelled between 5-10 Million of that. at the same time they proved that to compete at AFL level one needs...no experience :(/

The question re the afls expansion now is not whether or not it’s been a bungled piece of doggy doo. that’s as clear as day. No the question is as the post title asks... how much more than 200 odd million?

A year ago I predicted it’d hit the billion dollar mark. But now I’m not so sure. I think it could end up around 5-10 BILLION $$$ before the AFL Sees gws and Gold Coast as successful self sustaining clubs

Yep. That's exactly the point KE. In the past the fumblers have argued that money was irrelevant because the AFL had plenty. However the massive drop in tv ratings this year means the next broadcast deal is an unknown quantity.

They also have such problems with the congested mess of a game they've introduced 9 new rules for next year in an attempt to make the game more appealing. Add to that the lampooning the womens game and the X rubbish gets from even hard core AFL fans all of a sudden Gilty has multiple problems

Next year will be very interesting. If the new rules backfire and ratings dip further GWS & the Suns will be in trouble.

It makes me sad reading that article. The AFL really has to start doing something to help the Suns or just get rid of them. I am a Lions man & Im sick of teams from football states taking our best players. & you Rugby League people wonder why teams in non football states get a little bit of extra salary cap, well this is the reason why, to even it all out

Wow!!!! Sounds worse than I thought. I have read some AFL experts saying they believe the new rules may actually increase blow out scorelines. If that's the case & the Suns get absolutely hammered game after game watch the outcry then.

And GWS could be in a similar boat. They've offloaded plenty. Everyone knows what happens in Sydney if a sporting team is not winning. Spotless crowds will be in the hundreds. Of course the AFL will multiply x 10 the published numbers.

why cannot other teams take gold coast suns players..??

most of them are from melbourne anyways..

the thing is, Suns are not coping with producing there own players
and the only thing saving them from disappearing is

Away fans attending games>> propping up attendances and income for match days.
and AFL pumping in 25million a year..

besides that that have zero relevance

At least things at the Lions are looking up with us getting Lachlan Neale & not losing anyone (except for Beams :( )

I think next year we could challenge for the 8 which I have been dying to say for 10 years
