where did he say there were 5k in the tents?

A sellout doesnt mean a full stadium. The game was played during rain which would have turned some fans away. SOme who attended may have then taken cover because the stands provided none.

Why would the AFL announce a sellout many days before the game if that wasnt the case?

I understand why they may lie and say a crowd was a sellout AFTER the game.

But saying a game is a sellout days before the game would only keep potential paying fans away. That makes NO SENSE AT ALL

So why not wait until after the game had been played? Why announce a sell out days before the game?

Time for some truth. Morons on this forum joke the tents were out the back so fans were more interested in the food than the game. Wrong

The video above shows the HUGE catering marquee and areas under cover they had (00:19 and 5:02) which were absolutely packed. They were also facing the ground so fans could sit under cover and watch the game. Why were they in the tents and not in the stands? Because it was raining and the stands had absolutely no cover. People in the stands have umbrellas and ponchos.
