I don't think anyone denies the soo is a great marquee event in Australian sport ... A bit line the Melbourne cup. I don't think that translates into the nrl being successful overall though. I watched Cathy freeman run her race in Sydney but i am no fan of athletics and I watch the Melbourne cup every year yet no fan of horse racing. I'll also watch the Aussies play the World Cup games but no fan of soccer. If soo interest translated onto overall interest in nrl I think you would see much larger crowds across the country, support across the whole country , and indeed at least a larger grass roots participation across the country, but alas we do not.

Tickets were on sale months ago lol. To ensure a game 3 sellout, the nRL rigged the umpires in game 1 so NSW would win and game 3 would be the decider, presuming QLD were always going to win game 2, unless the umpires were rigged to favour them too? Wouldn't surprise me.

Jeez 100+k of adelaidians simply loving their RL last night!
With a population of just 1.23million that's one in 10 Adeladians just lovin their RL last night. 1 in 10!
Consider the avg household has atleast 3 people living within then we're looking atleast 1 in every 4 household's last night glowing with RL tuned in on the box and at least 2 fumblers in the bow down position glued to the screen.

:D
