I'll refresh your memory once again but it does seem to be lapsing.

"Head to head:
Look at Sydney game Friday night. Look at the Melbourne game on Friday night. which one wins the ratngs more often than not.

Look at Qld game Friday night. Look at Adelaide best rating game, Look at Perths best rating game, combine and more ofthen not Qld will beat them.

Look at the Sydney ratings for the Sunday game. Look at Melbournes ratings for the Sunday game. Which one wins the ratings more often than not?"

"Ch9.'s Sunday match (the 5th rated game of the nrl round) more often then not , rates higher in Sydney than Melbournes Ch.7 /10 match, rates on a Sunday in Melbourne?"

Ah, I just showed you that the highest audiences for each market was the AFL. In fact adding a targeted game for Perth and Adelaide (like you suggested) smashed Brisbane. Melbourne beat Sydney too.

AFL wins when the markets are targeted on FN and Sunday.

Thanks!

Last year the best FN NrL game was the broncos v the titans which rated 348k in BRIS/GC

The best FN crows game was Ess v Adel which rated 181k in Adelaide, despite being on at 8.30, averaged over 3 hours, and delayed 1hr.

The best FN eagles game was WC v Geel which rated 244k in Perth and I believ this was also on delay.

So 348k is a lot worse than 425k, wouldn't you say?
2.6 Million in Brisbane/GC

1.6 Million in Perth + 300K for the regional part of WA Counted in Perths Ratings
1.1 Million in Adelaide + 300K for the regional part of SA Counted in Adelaides Ratings

so... 3.3 Million ... or 25% more veiwers then SE Qld
& whadda ya know'
25% more ratings too

but
QLD has another 2 million veiwers to count
WA & SA ... less then 600K

QLD >>> SA & WA
& then some

What?

Again, it was the BEST rating game for NRL on Sunday in 2011. The second best AFL game on Sunday also rated higher in Melbourne than this NRL game in Sydney. Add to that the fact that the AFL on Sunday is shown directly against a foxtel game, splitting the audience.

the best rated VFL game in Melb on a Sunday was 390K
for 2 of your heavy weight clubs

our 347K ( best Sunday ratings) .. for our numb 5 game of that round ...a run of the mill game
pretty good effort i'd of thought

again

finals are the pointy end of interest for both codes aside from the GF's

& we pounded you lot in that dept last year
on Fridays
on Saturdays
&
on Sundays

put yr best game on any night /day
up against ours

it gets whopped
end of debate

Haha, our GF wins,

Our Sunday Gets the highest rating for the year. Our FNs get the highest ratings for each city for the year when the targeted games are added showing we get the highest ratings over all.

The only way the NRL comes close is they target FN with the Broncos every single week. They also have a flexible schedule so their number 1 game is shown almost every single FN.

This little exercise proves if the AFL ran a similar schedule they would win FN easily. they don't do it because it gives all clubs equal exposure. They spread the FN games across the comp. they win FN late games and Sunday games, despite being on foxtel at the same time.

Thanks pussycat! This has been very illuminating indeed!

What case are you resting? The AFL have a fixed schedule which means any matchup can end up on FN ie 15 v 16. The game is also delayed by an hour and finishes after 11.15, plus it is averaged over 3 hrs. Yet it still wins 8 of the 20 weeks!

The NRL game is live, usually a good matchup, only 2 hours, and in the most popular time slot being 7.30pm.

This result is actually very good for the AFL!

Interesting that if you look at the highest ratings from either, the AFL wins. The reason it doesn't do it all the time is because they share the FN slot **** all the teams, and the schedule is fixed so there are often some pretty one sided contests on offer. Where as the NrL have a flexible schedule so they show a decent matchup each time, hence the more consistent results.

How does your 9.30 game go, since that is more comparable?

Haha, our GF wins,
only half the time against ours .. since 2005.. its 3 to 3
& it never beats SOO
Our Sunday Gets the highest rating for the year
for a blockbuster against a dud game
put any NRL blockbuster up against any VFL one .. & u lot NEVER win

Our FNs get the highest ratings for each city for the year
as pussycat has pointed out
Syd V Melb .. its about 60% to the NRL in Syd ova 40% to the VFL in Melb

targetting being the key to NRL ratings success ... is a myth as I showed
you put a non targeted NRL game on ( several times last year ) & it still slaughters any VFL game

we cannot be beaten
we have too many people living in our states .. who watch our game
yr numb 2
deal with it

Ah no, our GF wins almost every time, even against your SOO, despite it being during prime time #-o

Your FN wins the Sydney v melb contest just, despite being live and at 7.30 v delayed and at 8.30. Lol how does your delayed game go? :D

Remember that many fn games get a crowd of over 50k in Melbourne who if in Sydney would be watching at home.

Why don't the NRL have decent games on Sunday? Oh that's right. They play them all on FN! And yet you only just win that contest!

You do realize the NRL and AFL rounds don't correlate don't you? #-o your game starts 4 weeks early.

You also need to realize that the AFL is shown on foxtel and FTA simultaneously, so add another 100-150k or so to those figures.
