Yea, IIRC their friday night game against Carlton last year was rain-affected too. On the plus side the throwballers can't use the rain excuse when tonights nRL game gets less than 20k again.

hmmmmm

so many swines fans won't go cos its wet eh
so they'd be watching it on the box then ?

I think the AFL has decent ratings for a non traditional sport on Sydney. I mean the fact they get ratings for games not involving the swans is pretty good I feel.

Looks like the Swans crowd will once again be affected by rain. They've had rotten luck with weather this season.

It is a sell out again, but no doubt some of the more fair weather members won't show up unfortunately. Will still be a bigger crowd than the thugby anyway.

Watching a bit of the rabbitoes v Canberra ... It's like watching the abc televise the VFl in Victoria ... Low crowd, atmosphere poor, akin to a suburban game, and looks unprofessional. Commentary is woeful! Flick over to the AFL... Much bigger crowd and therefore better atmosphere, much more professional and just a slicker operation all round. Nrl have to fix the poor crowds or they'll never reach their full potential. It is a much slower game I agree than AFL so the commentary will never have that constant excitement to it but surely there must be better people then the ones they have ..

Do you think the channels use different mikes ?? On the AFL now and you hear more the buzz of the crowd , even the rain ... It's pouring by the looks.

Interesting comparison of crowds in Sydney tonight

Horrible conditions. NRL in its heartland v AFL expansion team. Who will have the bigger crowd?

Well this pretty much sums up just how much bigger the Swans are in Sydney over any other nRL club.

Crowd at the South Sydney v Canberra game - 11,167

Crowd at the Sydney v Carlton game - 25,349

There was probably a couple of packed areas in TV hot spots, i.e. areas that are often shown on TV, and a fuckload of empty bays. Like everything from above the bottom section.

but but ... the Swines are the biggest club team in NSW aren't they
what has non traditional sport got to do with it dickhead

more people consider themselves fans of Penrith then the Swines in NSW
that's the reality
& the fact hardly anyone watches the Swines on TV proves it
