Im dont disagreeing, 1/3 - 33% sounds about right to me. So why does this site show over 85% on Grand Final day?

The vast majority of regional samples are the east coast which don't get regular AFL coverage. Therefore the AFL register 1/3 of the NRLs regional ratings for home and away games. However the GFs are shown in every market and AFL has a reasonable following in NSW and QLD because they have local teams and the grass roots comps are quite strong for non heartland markets. Therefore their extra gain in regional viewers is large because the game is finally shown in the regional areas that are sampled most. The NRL have only 1 team outside NSW and QLD so they gain barely any extra regional viewers in AFL states because of the lack of interest, so their total regional figure is not much more than their other finals.

What country regions don't get AFL coverage ??? Your confused on the popularity of AFL in NSW/Qld regionals viewers. Sure some would watch but the majority wouldn't piss on an AFL player if they were on fire.

Clearly the regionals for the GF show different. Are you saying the AFL is regularly shown in regional QLD and NSWbfor home and away games?

Hey, fair go, I'm just reporting the official tv ratings. You don't like it because the AFL comes out in front. Your problem, not this sites issue.

This is the first year the AFL will be live across the country for 4 games per weekend. I cannot imagine this was the case in regional NSW and QLD before this year. This means the AFL will have missed out on a significant amount of regional ratings since this is essentially the major area that is counted.
It also has to be said that the only FTA game the regularly NRL win, and only when regional market is included, is their live prime-time game on Friday night. But have a look why! They almost constantly show the Broncos which are far and away their most popular team with almost double the members and crowds compared to other NRL teams. This gives them an artificial boost when compared to the AFL who share the FN games **** popular and less popular teams quite evenly. The AFL also show Melb v Melb games predominantly, appealing to just over half their heartland city market of 7 Million people. Compare this to the NRL who combine two games that appeal to almost their entire 7Million heartland audience in one time slot.
You NRL fans get a distorted perception of your place in the TV ratings landscape because of one time slot that CH9 have done well to maximise the potential. Unfortunately for you this leaves your two other FTA time slots lagging badly behind because they are delayed, non targetted and single games. Furthermore, teams like the sharks and raiders are suffering because of a lack of FTA prime time exposure because the Broncos are favoured so heavily.

Some fairly ordinary ratings for the NRL last night in Sydney. 382k from 4.5M people or 8.5%. Brisbane rates well of course because their cities only team was playing, as usual. No doubt the regionals will come in at 600k from 5 Mil people which is 50% higher than the viewing rate of Sydney!
The 9.30pm game didn't even make the top 20 FTA list so it was below 417k!

Think TV wrong again. Failing to count the ONE HD numbers.
When the ONE HD numbers and Foxtel replay numbers are added, the respective grand finals rated as follows according to OzTAM and RegionalTAM:
AFL Grand Final - Capital Cities (2,642,000) + Regional Markets (930,000)
Total - 3,572,000
NRL Grand Final - Capital Cities (2,172,000) + Regional Markets (1,141,000)
Total - 3,313,000

So even with the flawed regionals added, you lot lose again. Now give it a rest will ya.

Yeah just noticed that. My god, that's an abysmal result for the NRL. When was the last time a FN NRL game didn't make the Top 20?
Like the crowds, tv ratings are down and staying down.
Down, down, crowds and tv ratings are down.

Gees, there's that silence I was talking about from the RL crew when they are challenged about the tv ratings.
Not even a but, but, but....
