they havent come close one when considering NSW and QLD are some the more expensive advertising markets in the country!
the highly paid media excs who are put in charge of running billion dollar networks in competitive markets, laughed PVL and clowns out of the office after PVL showed them his shake oil sales pitch they saw through it!
all you have are conspiricies and names as a rebuttal!
the AI dribbler spamming threads again
haven't come close??
deals before covid as explained to you several times now ... pig shit for brains
NRL 380 mill for 8 games
the fumbling shit show
416 million for 9 games
they were technically
the same value deals
AI mo.n.ga
advertising markets
NSW 1
VIC 2
QLD 3
WA 4
bigger the state city and country chargers more money to place advertisement! take in to the account SOO and the National & international stuff.
the NRL should be a long way out in front but media excs laughed PVL out of the office
Incoming Record Deal >> be good that it comes earlier rather than later,
It Will stop half your comments, with PVL and AFL being Number 1 on TV

think about it this way>>>
PRE COVID>> NRL AND AFL tv rights deals were neck and neck (AFL slightly in front) but 9 game round league and 18 teams)
Ratings were very similar across the board>>
Fast forward to now (NRL are well ahead in Averages) round ratings, Booming SOO and Women's on the rise
add in the rise of the Dolphins
PERTH BEARS new State entering
PNG entering
More games more teams..

id they dont have the money how will they spend it?
the networks basically pay for an AFL H&A season not much else
the NRL is the dominate code in the 1st and 3rd advertising dollar markets so realistically the deals arent even close and never has been

league is only really played in NSW and QLD where as AFL is played around the country!
the storm may be able to have a SOO team maybe in 500 years when people might start playing the game down there as nearly 30 years of the Storm and still cant get a kid to play at grass roots level with dreams of playing for the Storm
so lets get back to the TV rights, AFLs H&A season gets more than everything League all up! maybe the AFL could push ahead with SOO and rep games Aboriginal all stars etc

you forget 1 Big difference between the NRL and AFL
Advertising slots
NRL can barley get 3 to 4 adverts a half
Where AFL get a advert every goal
AFL also have 3 big breaks to the NRL 1 break at half time
therefore maximising adverts during the game massively
if you counted adverts to NRL game to an AFL game on Ch7 and opportunities
you would see a massive difference
the Great Kerry Packer said at the end of each over in ODI cricket
was a great peace of advertising on TV
it was LIVE and adverts a plenty
and was worth a pretty penny

Fair point for free to air broadcasts, but as we know the vast majority of the AFL broadcast dollars comes from pay tv, where there is no advertising/breaks in play after goals on Fox Footy.

Agree with what Beaussis points out - but am curious - what does each advertising slot cost in a home and away season - for each code when shown on FTA? Basic economics would suggest that if there are fewer spots in the NRL and the NRL is killing AFL in the ratings - you’d expect nrl spots to be worth a lot more per 30 second slot. I have no idea what a 30 second slot goes for in either code - but you have 1. A higher rating (thus more sort after) product with 2 limited opportunities/slots. Demand should be higher and supply lower? Anyone know the cost ? I’m sure there are variances but in general - which costs more.

this is true, The NRL lose out BIG on the NRL GF and ORIGIN series. (advertising) exclusive to FTA) Big audiences but little adverts during game time
FOX for AFL get extra breaks through 1/4 time half time which is bigger than NRL and 3/4 time
you do this for every match throughout the season (it is HUGE )

we have no recent data on this, i think it has been years since anything of this kind has been released in detail.
also Australia is a small market on world scale >>>
there is only so much an advertising slot of 30 seconds can reach and they are willing to pay.
