Sydney's controversial cost-of-living allowance will be removed by the start of the 2017 season but the AFL will compensate the Swans with a new rent subsidy, which the league will pay directly to footballers earning less than the average players' wage.
However, Greater Western Sydney appears to have been successful in its push to retain an additional $1 million in its salary cap, which the AFL will continue to support in recognition of the unique challenges faced by the Giants as they battle to establish themselves. GWS players will also receive the rental subsidy from the start of 2017.
The cost-of-living allowance that affords the two Sydney-based clubs an extra 9.8 per cent worth of salary cap room will be phased out - in the Swans' case over 2015 and 2016 - with all existing contracts, including Lance Franklin's, to be honoured going forward.
Instead the AFL will directly allocate an estimated $15,000 to every player on the lower side of the wage spectrum. By 2017 the qualification ceiling for rent subsidy is expected to include all footballers earning below an annual $300,000.

Fair enough, I wasnt aware of the rent allowance. Basically this change was designed to stop Buddy like deals where the swans used the extra 10% to recruit a big name instead of paying players a bit extra to compensate for Sydney's crazy real estate costs. The new deal appears to force the advantage to be spread **** the lower paid players

The new deal is just more unfair advantages for Syd teams
Legalised cheating done by the powers that run the comp
It's absolute bullshit .
No level playing field on field
It would not be tolerated in the NRl .

The NRL doesnt need it because their homeland has the highest cost of living in Australia. If anything this favours Melbourne and QLD sides which keeps your smaller and expansion markets healthy. FFS Melbourne and brisbane have been your most successful clubs over the last 2 decades so you certainly dont need a COLA

AFlc is there a cola or not. You're usually fairly definitive. You mentioned the cola and I asked was it still in play this year and you give me an answer like that. Is it or isn't it?

Typical Fred

Maybe the points for missing concept should be included for all sport. That way AFL players wouldn't look like such pathetic losers.

See aflcrap knows AFL. That's why I was waiting for his response. He is the guru of AFL knowledge. It's almost a fixation his quest for knowledge. I challenge anyone to know more about the AFL than aflcrap.

Yet rl was boring as bat shit ... apart from the storm game. How many tries tonight ke ? Seriously it was boring. Even the 2 tries I saw were boring.
And the people know it. In heartland they got an ordinary crowd as you point out ... they anticipated it was going to be boring.

There are moments in rl that are great ... basically when tries are scored .... but there's too long in between ... the stein game was great as had a number of good tries ... the rest have been boring. You can get close games that are boring and you can get blow outs that have awesome tries with awesome skills.
Tell me ... how many tries scored this weekend ?
