It was great to get such a crowd .., and the ratings too were great. They are apparently re negotiating at the end of the year.

Seems you read a lot of news about the AFL and in this case the AFL women's comp. or is it hitting the papers and general media as much as you say it is where you are? If the later, the exposure is surely great news for women's sport ... particularly for such an rl dominant area.

What, as has been pointed out, the women in other sport have been there and done all this, wtf is wrong with you Victorian morons, YOU DID NOT CREATE WOMEN'S SPORT.

FFS rL women played games in the 1920-30's in Aus and England in front of massive crowds. You banana throwing neanderthals need to step into the modern world and stop portraying yourselves as world leaders when you are anything but.
Where did anyone say we were world leaders in womens sport all that was said was it was a great 1st up crowd, just because were happy with the result doesnt mean other sports are being put down.
Were you in a coma for the week after the first game .
The fumble media were in overdrive patting themselves on the back for the game & how great it was for women .
Lol
You really are in denial .
He is and it's still going on in the media but as you say they are too blind to see and too overjoyed at all the fawning the girls game is getting, way way way over the top and I feel for all the women out there that have played other sports for years representing the towns cities states and nations only now to have this blowin sport come along with all the backing of the government right through to papers news channels print media the works going into overdrive, If I was female and played another professional sport out here already actually making a living from my preferred code , I'd be pissed the fuck off.

The gws freo game was a cracker. Skills seemed to be better which was needed to be honest. Crowd was decent as well, just under 4000 however there seemed to be a good atmosphere too with chanting and barracking going on (although maybe the AFL put the crowd noise in to create this ).

I read today that networks are overjoyed and apparently my the sat night game rates as well if not better as the men's equivalent. All advertising spots are now full and despite being disappointed Sydney didn't put in for a license this has seen two new sponsors come to gws with Harvey Norman being one.

I also noted that it reported gws has had 2000 memberships with the women's game? Does this go to the overall number for gws?

Just like any sport, some are more high profile than others. Appears AFL women's is being embraced by the people. Don't blame a product for being popular. Ratings are great and crowds are higher than expected and yes, the media love it. Why is that. You can't say it is all the AFL's doing as much if so then the men's game would be getting similar media coverage.

As for other women playing a sport not getting as much coverage, there are plenty of sports that get little or no coverage.

This comp reminds me of the A League .
Hyped up for the opening of the season..
Up against very little competition .
The fans lap up the free flowing bullshit from AFL house/media..
How big ..how great.
The ratings ...the crowds ..lol

Soon as there's some opposition &
3 weeks in its going backwards At a great rate .

Think some of the southern hicks got a little bit excited .

Going backwards at a great rate ? You sure. I agree the first match ever is likely to get more interest. But crowds and ratings have been well above exoectations. As a 7 week comp with a grand final (a concept I like by the way rather than having half sides make the finals) Maybe they have done well to keep it small to maintain the hype. I think having it at small grounds to keep atmosphere up and that suburban feel is also great and maintain free entry to keep crowds up ... broadcast and sponsorship can take care of money going forward and AFL can Fund it. What a great way to fill in that time between the preseason and men's comp with some overlap.

Let's face it. If this was the nrl and an nrl women's comp you would be beside yourself ... but solely as it is the AFL you put it down. You may have to ask yourself why this is so and why it eats you up so much. It's just a game.

Yes I'm sure
30% drop on Sat FTA a figures . 40% drop on fox .
Wookies figures on BF

Lol .
I'm sure .
& if it was a women's NRl comp there would not be the over the top media bullshit . We tend to live In reality with realistic expectations & would not be carrying on like some in AFL land .
We would know it is just a pre season comp & that once it had opposition then it would not generate the interest it would have at the start .

That's the difference between all fans & RL fans .
Your media can print or tell anything & its lapped up by the masses .
The RL media is a far different beast .

Now I'm confused. A few days ago I stated the fact that the female fumblers ratings dropped from 1.8m to 753k from week 1 to week 2. I suggested that they had more than halved and maybe that was a worrying sign. Wookie went on a mad foul mouthed tirade and told me the ratings had not dropped and said I was a f...wit. Yes ......he's very eloquent......lolololol. He then deleted my post.

But now he is saying the exact same thing???????????? Strange days indeed mama......most peculiar now!!!! So is he saying this latest massive drop in ratings is from week 2 to week3?? If so they have halved in consecutive weeks. How are fumbling spin merchants going to handle this?????
