its not an comparison of overall popularity, its a direct comparison of TV ratings for each game. 1/4 the ratings of the homeland sport is an reasonable result when they are up against each other.

Your 33% assumes only the fans of the teams playing make up the majority of the viewers, which is a silly assumption

many of their tv ratings are around 100k in Sydney when you count FTA and Fox. That's around 1/3 to 1/4 the NRL on TV in Sydney. How is 1/4 of the heartland sport dismal?
If AFLs Sydney ratings were that good it would be shown on Ch 7 instead of the low rating fill in channel 7mate.
The Swans barely made the news when they made the grand final in Sydney. Was all about South Sydney. You AFL fans really have no idea how little most people care about Victorias game.
It is shown clearly with GWS going backwards with merchandise sales and sponsorship.
the fact they get 50-80k on a secondary digital channel (plus foxtel) while competing against the NRL is a good effort. Of course they are minor news, just like the storm down here
The difference is the Swans had a long 100 year history in Melbourne and have been around 15 years longer in Sydney the the Storm have in Melbourne. So that is a huge head start.
Melbourne started from scratch with no existing fans in another city like the Swans. They are doing well in an AFL mad city.

The Swans are one club. The NRL have 9 clubs in Sydney. Tell me, how many people would turn up at AFL games if there were 9 AFL clubs in Sydney?
AFL ARE STRUGGLING TO SUSTAIN ONE EXTRA CLUB IN SYDNEY (GWS), SO THEY ARE MAKING THEM PLAY IN TWO CITIES AND STILL FALLING WAY SHORT WITH SUPPORT LOL

so you watch 15 out of 25 FN live telecasts. Yep, if most other NRL did similar, which youd expect, that would easily result in over 33% neutral fans for each telecast into Sydney. Your numbers are BS, thanks for helping us to show it

if you as a neutral supporter watch 60% of FN live games, and the fans of the 7 neutral clubs with their 150k (average) fans do the same (60% viewership), this will total 600k (1mil total x 60%) in neutral fans watching the game, not 165k.
