Having said that I would imagine a far larger proportion of NRL club revenue is from pokies given that AFL clubs earn far more from memberships, gare receipts and sponsorship

Are you sure of that??? 42 players on an AFL list - NRL usually have an NRL side, NSW cup side and u20 side don't they??? The fact that Brisbane and Nth QLD aside the rest struggle to come up with 12 to 15 mil to run their clubs really shows their not in the same league as the AFL!!

What's that got to do with it? I said proportion. AFL clubs have many revenue streams, one of which is gaming.

NRL squad is 30 players as far as I remember, some come under the cap from lower divisions but many will never get a crack at 1st grade.
