I checked a lot of this info and it appears that a whole league in WA maybe non-existent! ALL CODES DO THIS - it's a form of creative accounting. But you RL types take some Senate enquiry as a sign of some higher ground!

Victoria Police revealed an investigation has been launched into all its controversial third-party agreements that share law enforcement data, including the deal that made files on hundreds of AFL players, coaches, board members and staff available to the league.

The police-AFL "relationship" was struck so both could investigate "any criminal activity that would be prejudicial to the interests of the AFL", the contract says.

Isn't it more of an issue for VicPol than AFL - I mean if thats what they did - personally I can't see how this deal would come about - any deal that was struck bwt AFL and VicPol would be subject to the Police Integrity Commissioner investigation as making such a deal would be almost an attempt to pervert the course of justice. I don't accept ANY of the reporters who comment from the outside. Accusing Police of corruption is easily asserted but not often backed up. Anyway I think both codes have done their fair share of cover ups. I think anyone who tries to say my sport is better because it's morally better be prepared for a shock!

IMO this deal wasnt about protecting the AFL as much as protecting players from a media circus. However, as shown with the Essendon drug saga, if there's any truth to the saga the media circus is unstoppable.
