player must be born in a country, live in the country for more than 3 years before the age of 13 or one of his parents must be born in that country to live in that country.

i'm sure you can find some loop holes with that, but there are loop holes in place of birth too.

Place of birth =/= nationality always. IS NICOLE KIDMAN AN AMERICAN? hint:if you answer yes youre a ******.

For the record folks I have posted the eligibility for selection in IRL on page 7 - the criteria says
* Residence in country during 3 yrs with at least 9 months in ANY 12 month period
* Born in country
* grandparents born in country

Rules don't mention citizenship or where you played your junior football - which is curious to say the least!

No, you unleash them because you are all for massive loopholes in rep sport. South Africa is a special case because for decades they were forbidden to participate in rep sport. So they sought to represent another country. That's no longer needed. None of it is needed. There is NOTHING stopping ANYONE from representing the country they were born in. If there is then that obstacle should be removed quick smart.

What a joke - A completely manufactured international comp - as the Welsh coach clearly recognised - NOT A SINGLE US MAN IN THE SQUAD! Hahaha again what a joke!

US eye Australia RLWC last-eight clash

The United States has all but secured a place in the knockout rounds with their second win of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
The United States sent Wales crashing out of the Rugby League World Cup on Sunday with a 24-16 win at Wrexham which set the Tomahawks up for a likely quarter-final showdown with Australia.

The Welsh, the tournament co-hosts and semi-finalists in 1995 and 2000, were beaten 32-16 by Italy in their opening group match and were poor again on Sunday with Newcastle-bound NRL forward Clint Newton crossing for two of the Americans' five tries.

Captain Joseph Paulo scored a try and kicked two goals for the US who beat the Cook Islands in their tournament opener.

"It's a bad result but, as the World Cup has shown, I don't think you can tag anybody as a bad team because, come the World Cup, they come from all over the world," said Wales coach Iestyn Harris.

"There wasn't one USA man in the whole squad. There's a lot of Australian-based players in there who are of a very good quality."

The Tomahawks' squad were only formed at short notice and coach Brian Smith left on the eve of the event.

But they have won five matches in succession, following their Colonial Cup double over Canada and their 22-18 warm-up victory over France.

"I'm really proud," said new coach Terry Matterson, who played State of Origin for NSW and won two premierships with Brisbane. "I didn't know these guys until two weeks ago and they've worked really hard in that time.

"To come here against a good Welsh team with everything to play for, they were playing for their World Cup and threw everything at us. It was an outstanding performance - the boys keep defying belief, to be honest.

"We'll keep our heads down and keep working hard and worry about the next game against Scotland."

The Scots drew 30-30 with Italy in Workington.

Here's another one - Former Kangaroo - hahahah what an absolute disgrace of a comp! A complete farce and an international laughing stock!

Ireland coach thanks NRL prop Brett White
Ireland coach Mark Aston has publicly thanked Canberra Raiders prop Brett White for his bravery during Ireland's difficult World Cup campaign.

White was singled out by Aston for his part in the side's opening 32-14 defeat by Fiji, while he lavished praise on the former Kangaroo for defying an early head knock to lead their challenge in Saturday's 42-0 loss to England.

"He went back on but it was probably tougher for him to come off in the first place," Aston said after the defeat which effectively ended Ireland's hopes of qualification from the toughest group.

"He didn't want to come off.

"He'd have stayed out there if we had let him."

White, who qualifies through his Irish grandfather, was one of four NRL players recruited by Aston.

"He's a champion," Aston said.

"He's certainly come over here and set the tone for us.

"The nice thing is that he's mixing with the younger guys and giving them the experience he's had.

"I know he's helped (captain) Liam (Finn) really well. He just speaks sense and gets his point across.

"There's nobody more disappointed than him at the moment. He wants to win every single game. That will rub off.

"And over the years we'll build the culture that we want in Ireland and hopefully take it on to another level."

The 31-year-old had put his hand up to play for Andy Kelly's team in the 2008 World Cup but was ruled out by a foot injury.

He went on to play for the Kangaroos in the 2009 Four Nations Series and was in the team that beat England 46-16 in the final at Elland Road.

White is now set to face his fellow countrymen, including his Canberra teammate Josh Papalii, as Ireland prepare for their final group game against Australia in Limerick on Saturday night.

Aston's men will need to pull off one of the biggest sporting shocks of all time if they are to topple the tournament favourites but captain Liam Finn insists his players will play with pride when they run out at Thomond Park.

"That 20-minute purple patch by England killed the game off but you've seen 17 blokes out there have a dig," Finn said.

"They put plenty of pride in the shirt and that's all we've asked for from day one.

"If we do that (against Australia), we'll walk away from the tournament happy with ourselves."

So how are international AFL Crowds going? I hear your IC concept is really taking off....

Meanwhile, RLWC has catapaulted istelf from 263k people turning up over 31 games in 2000 to well more than 400k (probably 450k) people turning up over 26 games in just 13 years so around 8k average to around 15k average. While getting 45k to RL in Wales, 70k+ sell outs in England and TWO TBD crowds at the 2nd largest stadium in europe, wembley (90,000).

and AFL internationally.........anyone??? :?> :?> :?> :?> :?>

oh right, 20,000 made up participants in RSA. Give em a class a ball once, include the whole school. Numbers are on the rise everyone!!!! :thumbleft: :thumbleft: :thumbleft:

Not getting a little upset that this RLWC has captured the attention of NO ONE outside NSW/QLD in Australia - that it's a contrived event with a manipulated selection? Not getting a bit peeved that they won't get anywhere near half that number in 2017? Still can't get 100k like AF, soccer, RU - the way they have manipulated selection and created teams from countries wouldn't past them that the crowds are a creation since MOST grounds that play at only hold 10k!
