Correction. The network gave the NRL 1.1 billion dollars (it wasn't 1.3) in order to transmit the games and nothing more than that. They got the money for that from their advertisers/sponsors who paid to have their adds put on TV. That's how the TV networks make their money. NOT from viewers!!

the NRL ratings where down this year, so it will be even less this year,
the Holden cup or what ever its called is the feder or 2nd string cup. there are no figures for the AFL becaue Each club runs their seconds club in the state league. there are no tv figures for but some of the reguar home and away games out draw the NRL's club games
oh and the leagues games that are shown on tv are in prime time, like the GF & it still loses to the AFL
