So if no such agreement was in place, would you care if the nRL GF was shown on Gem nationally?

Take a program like the big bang theory for example. It rates around the 700,000 - 1 million mark on 9, and when it's on Go! it rates about 300,000. Neighbours is another example, rating over 500,000 nightly when it used to be on Ten and now about 300,000 on Eleven. What happened to these hundreds of thousands of viewers? Answer, the core viewers will obviously switch over to the multichannel but the viewers who may have the TV on say Ten for the news might just leave their TV on Ten for the rest of the night and may not even be watching the TV. Same deal goes for 7 and 9, some people just leave the TV on after they've finished watching a program such as the news.
sport isn't a sitcom or a TV drama
pretty much everyone knows where its shown & when its on & they have one opportunity to watch it live ...

the Swines core veiwership is about 50K
a final ... as has been proven adds about 100K regardless of wether its on the main or digital ch
thats the max audience

VFL is just a yawn for most sydneysiders
end of
It doesn't matter what type of program it is, the same principle applies. People watch a show they like and leave the TV on that channel if they go to do something else, e.g. go on the computer. The prelim final would have well exceeded the multichannel ratings if it was on the main channel.
it matters a great deal
you can catch up on a sitcom or a TV drama
sport you can only watch live .... ONCE

hence your maximum audience on either main or secondary ... the proof , the same audience for the Swines on both in a final

thats as big as it gets for them in Sydney outside a GF
Reece Witherspoon >>> the Swines in a final in Sydney   [/quote]
So why has Neighbours ratings gone down by about 200,000 since its move from Ten to Eleven? When it was on Ten people could still catch up on it as they can now, but what's caused the large drop in ratings?

It's because as I said before, people leave the TV on whatever channel they were last watching if they go and do something else. As the main channels have all the big programs and news on them, they attract more ratings. Even the Formula 1 this year which moved from One to Ten in the eastern states for Grand Prixes starting at 9.30 on Sunday's saw an increase in viewers after the switch. All of a sudden an extra 50,00-100,000 were watching. Where were these viewers when it was exclusive to One?

Until the Swans play a prelim final on the main channel these days (as AFL has become more popular in NSW in the last decade) you have no proof... about anything.
