yet there are thousands ... tens of thousands of these in the VFL

What club has $20 membership options for a magnet and bumper sticker? Cheapest GWS membership is $50 and that gets you the above plus a cap.

every club has a small proportion of interstate members. Not every member attends every game. The evidence is in the revenue that AFL clubs earn from memberships and it would dwarf every NRL club if they ever released their financial details

St.George hit 5000 members today and South Sydney became the 2nd NRL club to crack 10,000. Nowhere near some of the top AFL clubs but this is a wonderful achievement from the league in record time.

So the Storm who seem to make the grand final every other year and the finals every year, have less members than Port who haven't made the finals for 5 years?

Vfl team in its heartland with well over 100 years of support is only 200 in front of a 12 year old Rugby League side placed in the most hostile Vfl stronghold on Earth.
What's wrong with this picture?

Canberra Raiders, uninterrupted live coverage of all its games at least until round 20, not fucking bad, how many other sports around the world could claim that?
