Not all of us, some of us are country boys who grew up in the coldest windiest places in this big brown land.

Wow, soft as butter. Melbournians are used to poor winter conditions. All Melbourne AFL clubs had poor stadiums which were windy and exposed. VFL park used to be called artic park yet had regular crowds of 50-70k.Striker wrote:The Mayor can use planning laws to reduce the size of the stadium, or not give planning permission at all.
Talk back radio wouldn't let us talk about it. We were shut up.
The Storm hasn't played at Etihad for years.
And rain is not the only problem. There's Winter winds as well!
Have you been to AAMI Park before? If you have, do you agree with Stiker that it's a shit stadium?ParraEelsNRL wrote:Not all of us, some of us are country boys who grew up in the coldest windiest places in this big brown land.
They weren't getting those crowds very often at all! Why do you think the AFL got rid of the suburban grounds?Xman wrote:Wow, soft as butter. Melbournians are used to poor winter conditions. If people are waiting for perfect conditions to support the Storm theyll fail dismally. If they are so precious how the hell are they going to stick around when the storm have some poor on-field years?
The AFL got rid of suburban grounds because they sold them out week in week out with the exception of Footscray at the old Western Oval. Subiaco gets sold out pretty much every week, especially with West Coast and they are finally getting a new stadium over there in 6 years time.Striker wrote:They weren't getting those crowds very often at all! But I do agree that if the Storm drop down the ladder we're in big trouble.
VFL park drew an average of between 25-35k every year including 35k in 1981.Striker wrote:They weren't getting those crowds very often at all! There isn't enough of them?Xman wrote:Striker wrote:So whats wrong with RL fans?Xman wrote:Wow, soft as butter. Melbournians are used to poor winter conditions. No, there isn't enough Storm fans period. And that shit team Melbourne FC still get thousands more to their games to shit matches than the Storm do.Striker wrote:There isn't enough of them going to the games, because of a $hit venue and disenchantment as a result of the Nazi's at Etihad experience.
By the way, you forgot to mention that MCG averages were low because they had a $hit team playing their home games there (Melbourne Demons) before other clubs moved in. And the only time the suburban grounds bulged was when drawing clubs played each other I'll bet!
Etihad was their venue 10 years ago and crowds were still shit. And are you saying that Storm fans don't go to games because of security? Wow, nRL fans are even more pathetic than I originally thought!Striker wrote:You're wrong, and if Etihad was available and the Nazi security is kept at bay you'll see just how many Storm fans there really are!
Hmm, Richmond are one of the big 4 AFL teams and played out of the MCG. Add the fact almost all blockbuster games were scheduled there also.Stewie wrote:No, there isn't enough Storm fans period. No passion and clearly soft.Xman wrote:Stewie is right. The AFL outgrew suburban grounds which would regularly bulge at the seams despite poor facilities and protection from weather.
So whats wrong with RL fans?
They were scared away and many never came back as a result! Well done Collins! Security is not the problem anymore and I think the Storm should sue Etihad and the security company involved at the time! The problem now is AAMI Park not being much better in the rain and/or wind than Olympic combined with the fans who believe that when they start coming back in the numbers I know exist, the AFL, Doyle or someone else will engineer something else to keep our numbers away!Stewie wrote:Etihad was their venue 10 years ago and crowds were still shit.
