There will NEVER be a dedicated NRL channel because it doesn't rate on Pay TV. Not even with NSW regional subs, which says a LOT!
Needed to be said.
Its because you have so many AFL shows that it rates number 1 channel, this is were your contra comes in.
But Number 1 sport in Aus on Pay tv is still NRL by a fair Margin TPG. =D>

Again - if that was true, Fox Sports 2 would be beating Fox Footy. And it's not.
End of subject.

Yeah you have heaps of AFL shows and that push's Foxfooty as number 1 channel and this is were your contra deal comes in.

NRL will never have our own channel, good i dont want one its a illusion Fox used to lure the AFL into accepting the contra part of the deal, Fox will have to add shows accordingly without the NRL giving away a big chunk of its deal to contra that adds nothing.
I would rather the NRL grab the cold hard cash then a NRL channel. :D

See its used as leverage to bring down the price of the tv rights for FOX, no thankyou.

Exactly, FoxFooty was a negotiating ploy on the part of Foxtel to get the AFL to force 7 to simulcast, I do not think the NRL will get its own dedicated channel on Fox Sports. I think 2 of the FTA channels are willing to simulcast already, and if Fox has to get 7 to simulcast, Fox really messed up on its gameplan

AFL Pay Tv ratings
Friday
Dogs vs Pies = 250,000k
Saturday
Geelong Vs Melb Demons = 105,000k
Essendon Vs Lions = 134,000k
GCS Vs Freo = 235,000k
Swans Vs Crows = 203,000k
STK Vs Hawks = 123,000k
Sunday
WC vs NM = 190,000k
Carlton vs Giants = 168,000k
Port Ade vs Richmond = 123,000k
AFL Total = 1531,000k Ave 9 games = 170,100k
piss poor Foxtel would not be happy with take up. 170 average is the same as last year. =D>
When you compare the product NRL Pay tv and AFL pay tv there is no comparison.
NRL sitting on 300k+ average for there games on fox
AFL sitting on 180k average per round.
NRL king on Pay tv.

How many NRL games on Fox are shown against another NRL game? What's that? None? In other words each of them are shown to the NRL's maximum market.
Where as the AFL's PayTV ratings are split between FTA and other PayTV games. The AFL is WAY ahead and you know it!

Or maybe he just has problems understanding what we are saying, TPG this has nothing to do with faith in our game please scroll to previous statements by me and JALF and take your time reading to comprehend the point we are making.
And as the famous TPG says

He certainly has a point. AFL programs other than the actual games, such as 'on the couch', rated far better than NRL equivalents. For this reason I cannot understand why the NRL deserves a dedicated channel.

What does this mean? I thought it might mean that the CH7 addes were playing on foxtel on the games that channel 7 produced, but when I checked they were playing different adds. Can you explain.
