I amazed more rl types don't like American Football - the (lack of) attention span is perfect.
Nice try Cos.

RL is very different to this game cos. In fact i'd argue that AR is = or more similar to American Football.

Then you'd lose.King-Eliagh wrote:RL is very different to this game cos. In fact i'd argue that AR is = or more similar to American Football.

American Football developed from rugby with one forward pass allowed.
It is stop/start in nature like rl.
It has 4 attempts to make 10 yards vs 6 tackles.
It has a basic rugby style field, posts and scoring.
It has basic rugby setup, line of scrimage,forwards/backs, tackling and throwing.
It has 11 men Vs 13 men on the field.
American Football's only similarity with AF is the "completion" is similar to the "mark" and shepherding is allowed.
Nice try Cos.

Re: does PNG have more AR participants than rl participants
Having said that, the big touchdown pass is the feature of American Football and that's why Americans like the high marks of the Australian game (doesn't everybody) but also they like the unrestricted free flowing nature of the game which is the opposite to theirs. Interestingly some of the laws in isolation are exactly like those of AF. A receiver going for the ball is not allowed to be interferred with. In the superbowl there was a large outcry because a player wasn't flagged for putting one hand on the shoulder of the opponent whilst executing a very AR style spoil with the other..NSWAFL wrote:I see in quoting that Dunce showed his lack of understanding of AFL again. Well buried, Cos!

You can wipe point two, as AR is just as much stop start as RL and AF. i.e every mark. Both AR and RL is much more flowing than AF.cos789 wrote:Then you'd lose.King-Eliagh wrote:RL is very different to this game cos. In fact i'd argue that AR is = or more similar to American Football.![]()

Point 3 is fairly pointless. Massive differences there, which you've basically highlighted.
Point 4 ok.
Point 5 = fairly lame as the amount of men on the field is really a minor element of the actual sport. Dont think you'd understand that though as you rarely think deeper than superficial shmack.
The completion and shepherding are similar yes. But more importantly, the structure of the game/making ground is much more similar to AR. You can go forward and back, players must lead and move to free themselves to take a mark. This structural similarity between AR and AF is something RL does not share at all. btw a side thought. How many AFL compared to nrl players have made it to the nfl?

I see your lil bitch is chiming in with his whole hearted support
