Yep, the big membership drive is when preseason comp starts.

I'd be more worried than GWS have almost as many members as some NRL teams who are located in NRL heartland.

current membership for the 4 NRL sides in Western Sydney is about 32,000

DESPITE comprising just 25 per cent of its inaugural membership, the 3000 local Greater Western Sydney foundation members were a ''good start'', according to chief executive David Matthews.

When the AFL's franchise finalised its memberships on October 31, it had 12,165 paid-up supporters. Canberra - where the club will play three matches next year - accounted for more than 40 per cent, while the 14 GWS local government areas managed 25 per cent. The rest came from elsewhere.

''That's a good base,'' Matthews said of the 3000 locals. ''We are really pleased with essentially what represents a strong intention to be very involved with the club.''

"It stands to reason" is not proof Dave. It's presumption, a guess, an estimation. NSWAFL is correct in saying you have no idea what proportion of the current 4400 GWS members are. They could almost all be local. You have no idea....

In fact in my opinion the proportion of local members should be much more than last year because the membership is allows admission to proper AFL games, which will directly effect people who are local.
