with stuff all money, just like ch10. How are either of them going to guarantee nRL coverage into AFL heartland states when they already cant afford to take a hit on ratings?

Well well well, it's judgement day motherfukkers! The first few pages of this thread show many's predictions and also show the fear of some AFL fans in not putting their nuts on the table. What pussies.
Once again though I've underestimated RL and I apologise for my pithy 900 million guess. I'm quite ashamed. What i do notice though is by Eels estimates, Raiderdave has once again hit the nai on the head and predicted correctly with 2.75 billion. Freakish and admirable how accurate this man has been in his predictions. But if we go on what the papers are saying i think dogs was closest.
Coming in dead last is Beaussie who predicted a misely 780 million, we should laugh.

with our dominance of Pay TV looking like it will never end
we can't & won't be denied our rigtful place as the holder of the biggest TV deal in Australia

Wow dave is a genius, Doc Brown move over.......

NSWAFL wrote:$600 million. Only $100 million more than the last one. Reason? Too much reliance on regional areas and not enough attention paid to Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. Regionals don't pay the bills. NRL need a presence in Adelaide and Perth to get anywhere near the AFL's deal.
So time to put you in my black book of looney's.....
600million yeah from fox alone buddy...

Beaussie wrote:$780 million for the NRL. Will bring them up to the level the AFL was 5 years ago. History shows us that is always the case with the AFL being the market leader when it comes to broadcast rights.

So tell us all why is the NRL getting paid more than that prediction Beau and more significantly more per minute (guess that means we can get more from advertisers that see the demographics of the NRL viewers more valuable than the AFL viewers. There is still NZ rights and internet rights to come.

It was always going to be hard to get the same per NRL game seeing the AFL game is longer, the only way to do a fair comparison is based on televised time and the advertising time available so the per minute comparison is by far the only way to do any comparison. If I get paid more per hour than you but you work more hours I would expect you to be getting more, wouldn't you?

Wrong.
The AFL have 9 games but 8 are shown concurrently splitting the audience. In reality they actually only have 5-6 independant game times for fans to watch. Where as almost every NRL match is shown in isolation so they have 7-8 independant game times. Therefore this money per hour or game is just rubbish.
Add to that 5-6 of the NRLs 8 games are shown in prime-time. Only 3 of the AFLs 9 games are shown in prime-time.
The NRLs 3 FTA games 2 in prime-time FN, the best rating time for sport of the weekend. Add SOO and rep gamnes and the value of their limited FTA games is far higher because they arent showing their lower rating games on Saturday arvo.
As ive said before, if it was as simple as money per game why didnt they sell more games? Because the price would have been lower thats why. Thats why they refused ch10s offer of 4 FTA games for 800M.

Per minute now is the comparision now is.

Oh dear, the offer from Channel 10 with better coverage for RL fans was close to what I predicted (ie: $800 million). You lot took the extra cash and now have Sunday twiglight games added to the already unpopular Monday night games and no changes to your FTA or Pay TV broadcast times. How embarrassing. Way to go in selling out your fans ARLC. Still dictated to by News Ltd and Channel 9 for another 5 years too. Shame job.

Wow raider are you involved in the NRL because you were pretty much spot on.
The principal reason is a massive rise in television revenue, which rose to $221 million last year under a new
$1.2 billion broadcasting deal with Channel Nine, Fox Sports and Telstra. In comparison, broadcasting revenue was $101 million in 2012.

That's right folks you see clearly.
16 team NRL 1.2b without NZ sky deal (add 2 teams in 2017 and its over folks)
18 team AFL 1.25b
And you singlet wearers thought the NRL could not get more for tv rights..................... :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<>

Yeah imho there is no scenario that would have been acceptable for the commission to take 800million compared to the near 1.3b they got from 9/Fox/NZ Sky...................your out of your mind if you think that is a good idea.

also for anyone disputing those figures. which happens every time.
dave smith quoted as "$1.2 billion broadcast deal" yesterday when he announced an FIFTY MILLION dollar profit. i rise of 50-60 million i think IN ONE YEAR.
damn, this is what it feels like to have actual managers in charge for the first time in 108 years. i envy you bumblers' management. but thats just about it haha

nah mate
just analyse the history facts & the landscape
I have already had a think about 2018 for our game & what we can expect
& I posted somewhere else , we'll get 1.5 Billion plus
& even that may be on the conservative side
I invite fumblers to doubt us again with their comical attempts to talk our game down
they still haven't got over the shock of the last deal & the amount we got

1.2m v 1.275m
I wonder who won?

Add to that the AFLs revenue from memberships, sponsorships and gate receipts is far higher.
