Its only early days yet , the NRL have only just begun got serious about this in the last few years.

Some of our leading sides are already passed half of yours, OMG, how embarrasing
Adelaide - 42,000+ (45,105)
Brisbane - 14,252 (20,762)
Carlton - 34,663 (45,800)
Collingwood - 55,000 (72,688)
Essendon - 42,020 (47,708)
Fremantle - 20,000 (42,918)
Geelong - 30,819 (40,205)
Gold Coast - 8,502 (11,204)
Greater Western Sydney - 9,416 (10,241)
Hawthorn - 48,872 (60,841)
Melbourne - 22,962 (35,459)
North Melbourne - 22,800 (33,423)
Port Adelaide - 26,032 (35,543)
Richmond - 40,921 (53,027)
St Kilda - 25,870 (35,440)
Sydney - 25,000 (29,873)
West Coast Eagles - 52,222 (57,377)
Western Bulldogs - 19,642 (30,007)

NRL (2012 number's bolded)
Brisbane – 17,237 (26,216)
Canterbury Bulldogs – 11,498 (13,544)
Canberra – 6,668 (8,264)
Cronulla Sharks – 7,000 (5,126)
Gold Coast – 6,040 (6,674)
Manly – 6,031 (10,466)
Melbourne – 9,745 (14,762)
Newcastle – 14,195 (19,399)
New Zealand – 7,113 (10,938)
North Queensland – 9,178 (10,336)
Parramatta Eels – 12,013 (11,012)
Penrith – 3,609 (5,686)
St.George – 16,323 (19,223)
South Sydney – 21,236 (22,154)
Sydney – 7,689 (10,256)
Wests Tigers – 7,628 (10,305)

Hmmm. Your two standout clubs are the broncos and Souths. Yet their tally is only better than 4 AFL clubs and 2 have existed for less than 2 years. Not to mention the fact the AFL season is still 4-5 weeks away.

Raiderdave tried this BS a few weeks ago. When you look at the figures the AFL has actually increased in member numbers by about 180k in 5 years. In the same time the NRL has only increased by about 150k.

So the AFL is actually getting further ahead!

the VFL added 2 extra teams & about 25K members cockhead
meaning their real increase is about 155K

the same as the NRL's

but

they started off a base of 600K ( built up over 25 years )
meaning they've increased their total by 25% ... or 5 % a year

the NRL started off a base of just 80K in 2008
meaning the NRL"s tally has increased by 150% .... or 30% a year

not a contest
we win
Teams are teams buddy. Just because the NRL havent got the following to expand isnt our fault.

AFL membership growth rate is about 36k per year. The NRL's is about 30k over the same time frame

Who's growing faster?

In 2012, the Titans had 2,000 less members than they did in 2011. So much for constant growth for every nRL club!

Another lie... exposed.

NRL fans need to realise that memberships are limited by stadium size. The eagles have a 10k waiting list because they have far more members than they can accommodate in their stadium. The dockers are just about at the same stage. As are Essendon at AAMI. The swans are this year at their renovated SCG. So were Geelong up until this year. So for many teams there is a membership ceiling according to the capacity of the home grounds.

The NRLs membership ceiling is going to be far lower given many of their stadiums have 20k capacity. How will they address this? :-k

They will always be half the AFLs membership tally or less.

you have 18 to our 16
if we added 2 more we'd whack another 15 to 20K... hell maybe more 25K ? , members onto to our tally ...

VFL membership growth in actual numbers .... is exactly the same as the NRL's
but
its % of growth.. is just a fraction of the NRL's
NRL growing 5 times faster

end of
