AFL is dominating once again on the club scene although on the other hand origin and test matches for RL crowds have never been higher (ANZAC Test - Canberra Stadium SELL OUT 26,000+, State of Origin 1 96% capacity , 80,380, State of Origin 2 SOLD OUT 52,500 & State Of Origin 3 guaranteed sell out as less then 10,000 tickets remaining), I am hearing that the World Cup final at Old Trafford is heading towards a sell out as well as the opener at Millenium Stadium, good news for rep footy.
If the NRL listen to the fans more, more people will show up, putting blockbusters at Leichhardt and Brookvale on Friday nights is stupid they should be on Sunday afternoons which would be guaranteed sellouts. A Saturday afternoon timeslot should also be opened to be make it more family friendly this would go well for Penrith & Canberra. A stadium plan should be drafted for all clubs meaning they play blockbusters at the big stadiums for Friday Nights e.g. like the Bulldogs V Eels, they could do the same with St.George V Cronulla moving the game to the SFS or SCG instead of Kogarah or Cronulla.Making the prices more family friendly would be another initiative they should be looking at.

Brandz - I agree with your assessment - I have never said SOO wasn't going well or that it isn't well supported - clearly RL fans are more inclined to support major events than their club games, and in time that gulf will grow, unless they go the AFL path of ground rationalisation. Further it needs a greater national profile at club level which it doesn't have in at least 3 states and one territory.

A stadium plan for the NRL, lol, clubs struggle to get any where close to full capacity at the best of times

When they AFL rationalised grounds in Melb and pissed off Waverley it increased crowds - although in Sydney it may not have the same effect (or as much the same effect) due to the harbour separating Nth and Sth - perhaps if the had all Sth teams playing at SFS and all west clubs at parramatta it could work!

21k for the NRL tonight. Another disappointing crowd.
Oh wait, what?

that's the total crowd for 2 games combined? No way!!!
What a Minor league, 10k average for 2 Friday night games!

46k at the AFL last night. Well over double the NRLs two games combined.
Now lets wait for Dave to spin this as an AFL failing and NRL growing

So the NRLs one shining light is SOO. Other than those 3 games per year NRL fans are left to celebrate crowds of 20k in remote centres. What a minor league the NRL despite being the worlds largest RL comp!
