Here are the figures:-
Rural NSW over 3m,
Rural Qld 2m
Rural vic. 1.5m
Rural WA 600k
Rural SA 300k
Rural Tas. 250k
Its pretty clear why the AFL dont want to incude these figures!
I can only go by the ratings on this board, and there seems to be an enormous jump for the AFL rural ratings come Grand Final. Possibly becaus those that usually dont tune in do, but i suspect there's a bit of fudging going on also.
Double counting is another AFL myth. Each station has its own unique signal.

Where are these figures from?
Oztam don't even include Tasmania which are 500k not 250k
Anyway, you can see for yourself there is no way an AFL final could rate 90k from this sized regional audience. Meanwhile a home and away NRL games rates 600k! Rubbish!

Wow,I cant get over that football game. Did you watch it? Great win to the Roosters.
- What a game - what a product,
Those figures are the regional population figures. And as you can see League has more than double.
Much of the rural territory in SA & WA is covered by there capitols not leaving much, maybe a few 100k
- very little in the scheme of things-

Imagine how far the AFL would be in front if they counted all our ratings!
what ratings would they be ?
about 500K in SA .. WA & NT
& Tassie's 500K ...
they add next to nothing ...
nothing at all

1Million people rating at 10% is an extra 100k per game. 4 FTA games per round = 400k extra per round. 24 rounds plus finals = 10 Million extra viewers per year.
Take the SOO away from the NRL's cumulative figure (since it isnt the NRL anyway) and the AFL win the didgy cumulative figures even with the rubbish regionals.
[-o<
very simplistic there marcus
10% ... is that your rule ?
cos if it is
your silly little Victorian trash sport ... loses
it simply can't win
we have 12.5 Million people at 10%
you have 10.3 Million ... thats everyone counted

thanks for clearing that up

It's an approximation of the expected ratings for the regional areas excluded by regional TAM.
You don't like it do you!

Still leaves 1.5M in Victoria, 500k in Tasmania, NT and parts not covered in WA and SA.
I have already conceded the regional audience in NRL states is double that of AFL states. However, the difference is only 2.5M.
Tell me how an AFL final last year rated 90k from 2.5M and on the same weekend an NRL final rated 700k from 5M??!
Until you give a logical explanation for this your figures are BS.

Remember Dave, the AFL beat the NRL in the 5 city ratings very comfortably. Counting the entire populations would be an easy win for the AFL because AFL fans watch in greater proportions.
Just look at the GF's! and ours isn't even shown in prime-time
Oh and on that, I saw you used the time slot as an excuse for the pathetic national NRL ratings on Sunday. But nothing else was on Dave, nothing!

700K for the NRL in just 2 cities

the NRL kicks date after that ...........

Oh dear, after Sunday you're seriously not claiming the NRL have an audience in other cities are you? LMFAO!!!!!!!!
The 10% rule doesn't work for the NRL. Even Friday night live only got 600k from 7Mil! That sure aint 10% LOL

No it doesnt! Look at the regional population figures.
Read the regional tam booklet
http://www.regionaltvmarketing.com.au/r ... v/map.aspx A few hundred k at best unacounted for, and quiet a few of those come from Qld.
I don't even know where this supposed stat is. It might be a misprint, I dont know. Why do you expect me to come up explation? It's your mob who do the figures. Maybe you be better asking Beaussie.

Massive fail again Dave. You only have to look at the AFL attendances in NSW and QLD to realise that the AFL have a far greater market in these states than the NRL in VIC/SA/WA/TAS, who only have one team between them.
Therefore you cannot simply count the NSW/QLD populations as NRL ratings only.

AFL games regularly get little to no regional ratings, even for finals. I'm sorry but regional Victoria has population only 500k off Brisbane. Brisbane get 300k for some NRL games. How the hell is country Victoria, where AFL is huge, effectively registering zero?? Add 500k for Tasmania and you know the figures are just utter BS!

it does NOT have a population 500K off Brisbane where TV ratings are concerned
pay attention you wombat
Melbournes coverage is over 4.5 Million
leaving only about 1 Million for regional Vic ... so its ratings should be about half of Brisbanes
& are ....
you just keep brining up the same BS excuses as to why yr lame @ssed sport gets its nads handed to it by RL
they continue to fail
each n every time
suck it up
