‘It’s been a struggle’: Trying to grow rugby league in the US

“ Even Australian Rules Football seems to capture more enthusiasm: according to the USAFL’s Club list, the code had 2000 participants in 2021 and 49 clubs, while the US Association of Rugby League says it has about 700 participants.”

Maybe the AFL could hold there own Tri series. Australia v North America v China. Wow! What a game that would be.

How about NRL vs Canada vs USA. Pretty much the same.

Hi there. That figure of 2000 is correct, including a carnival in Texas where we had around 900 players, umpires, coaches, support staff, etc.

The number includes players across the league who played during the year, as well as attendees of smaller sessions.

And just to clarify, that count of 900 are not one-offers. To play in that carnival you needed to have played three times during the regular season.

No 1. That’s not my opinion, that’s the opinion of someone trying to organise rugby league in the USA…you know someone who is actually there…..and doing the stuff….so I would assume they know what’s going on there…..where they are…
No 2. Yes I know there is more than one organisation trying to have their own comps in the USA. Many? I would like a definition of that one. The attempt to start a professional league via the NARl has gone very quite…most teams have dropped out. They are meant to start on May 21 with a 6 team comp, but there has been little internet updates/news since January.
No 3. The USARL has been very quiet lately, a couple of references to their women’s rep side, but not much else.
No 4. The Californian Rugby League was very active, but since September 21, when they suspended some teams indefinitely, they too have been very quiet.
5. It is very hard to gauge exactly what’s going on wth rugby league there at the moment.
6. Australian Rules Comps in the USA do appear to be a bit more active, albeit will always be a minor, curiosity sport.

Yeah, but that is still individual countries (for the main) - what I was talking about was continents or regions as a grouping.

You certainly “blow up” the truth,
The AFL was not making the statements about rugby league or Australian Rules, that was Americans talking about their respective sports in America.

You've got a bit of fixation about AFL, spend more time talking about it than you do NRL.

AFL has always been known for pulling numbers out of their arses with player numbers.

Remember all the hype about interest in China & New Zealand. Yet they they are no longer playing games there.

Then you had all this talk that GWS are the most supported club in Western Sydney and AFL was going gang busters there.
Hasn't happened.

All fake news.

Do have no comprehension or do you just play on being ignorant?

This was not the AFL saying or reporting this, but from people involved in both codes in the USA.
Is your anti AFL stance deliberate and mischievous, or just plain stupid and obsessive.
