There is no disputing that nrl crowds are down even on inflated fudged figures so the real story could be quite devastating. Though I don't take ratings as gospel, they are a good relative measure in that the survey crowd that said nrl was up is now saying nrl veiwing is down so that must be a worrying trend (for nrl)

Let's be careful on the fudging accusation, Cos789. Only one club has been caught doing this, and that was South Sydney.

And again, this worrying trend is for sport in general, not just the NRL. Sport thrives on competition. Lack of competition leads to complacency.
