Sure Eddie continues to deny the constant rumours that he is set to take the top job at Channel 9, but one has to wonder what it would mean for the Collingwood Football Club and his role as President if he did take the position.

EDDIE McGuire has denied rumours he is being lined up as Channel Nine's chief in Melbourne.

And the Collingwood chief and Footy Show host has continued to duck questions over his ambitions for the top job at the network.

Sources close to bosses at James Packer's Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd, which owns Nine, say McGuire will be announced as the new Melbourne manager within weeks. The move will be part of a major shakeup at the top of the network, to include the replacement of Channel Nine acting chief Sam Chisholm, they say.

Told of the rumour, McGuire said yesterday: "That's absolutely wrong."
