More than 27,000 tickets had been sold by early this afternoon for the historic ninth-round NRL match between the Vodafone Warriors and Canterbury-Bankstown at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium tomorrow night (match day sponsor: Vodafone). Photo: Photosport.
Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said less than 6000 tickets were available for sale for the event dubbed ‘The Capital Clash’.
“The sporting public in the greater Wellington area and much further afield have responded fantastically in the way they’ve embraced the occasion, the first time we’ve taken a home game out of Auckland.
“But while more than 27,000 tickets have been sold there are still plenty of great seats available at great prices. We’d urge fans to buy now to not only avoid being disappointed but to also save on prices at the gate.
“Remember, the cheaper pre-purchase prices are available right up until the gates open at 3.00pm.”
Adult tickets are available from just $25, children from $10 and families from $60 (two adults and two children). Go to www.ticketek.co.nz or:
CLICK HERE TO BUY TICKETS FOR 'THE CAPITAL CLASH'
If tickets continue to sell at the rate they have been, ‘The Capital Clash’ will set a record for the biggest rugby league crowd not just at Westpac Stadium but for any rugby league match played in Wellington.
The biggest crowd at Westpac Stadium was 27,724 for the first of the Bulldogs’ first four home matches there against the Vodafone Warriors in 2001. The record for any rugby league match in the Capital is said to be the crowd of 28,000 for the Sesquicentennial Test between the Kiwis and Australia at Athletic Park in 1990.
Going to get a much bigger corwd without giving away freebies

Why, Rabbit isnt "acting" at all swine. He's....just stating the facts.swine wrote:What and your acting like thats an achievement? What would you expect from a side that represents the area and has been there for 10+ years. What a wanker, its like Tassy you expect it!
You seem a lil touchy touchy on the topic swines. A lil...oversensitive to the fact...somewhat...disgruntled upset and distrubed.
What, them facts hurt you a lil?

Don't people get that's why the AFL are taking a game or two there... As it is largely unfollowed in NZ? No point trying to grow interest in the game on say Perth where it already dominates. AFL are just trying to raise awareness of the game a little. Helps with getting sponsors etc.

Just don't understand how this is an achievement? Not touchy at all if he was talking 36k then I'd agree with him but 27k! Anyway I don't know why I'm buying into the argument not interested in the slightest - on second thought retract all previous comments on subject - I'll go to bed instead.King-Eliagh wrote:Why, Rabbit isnt "acting" at all swine. this cowardly tool starts a thread saying how embarrassing for RL it would be if this occurred
with a crowd of 30,000 tipped , looks like the only one embarrassed here .. is Bearsy
