More than 1.37 million viewers nationally watched the opening match of the NRL season across the Nine, NBN and WIN Networks, a seven per cent increase from the Thursday night season-opener between the Knights and Dragons in 2012 (1.28 million).

LIVE THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL 512

So thats a total of 1.363 million.

Just 100K out on the top listed game.
The Metro figures used here are overnight figures . The ones on this site, given by Beaussie "nrl RD1' are from oztams finalised report and I would prefer to go with Bea's metro numbers.

As for regionals 512 is the figur I have used.

I've used all media week figures here .

PTV 310

7mate 222

5399

With regionals a total of 1328. if you were rounding that figure to 3 units instead of 4 (which I have done with all games) , it would be 133.

Still only getting 1408 from that.

851+45 + 512= 1408. Where are the other numbers from?? 15 and 61?

Yeah 1328 is close enough. Its just good to get a source to confirm the figures.

If there's 45 viewing Gem metro than using 1/3 (as there viewing from AFL states) must be regional. I've done the same with yours , only .66 .

The other column is Pay TV - 61 from Sky NZ

But the vic regionals are included in the regionl oztam ratings. So they are included in the 512 figure. Same with the SA figures and the WA ratings are very small. So im happy with say a 1 rating for WA. You can incude the NZ rating i guess but we need to dig up the AFL NZ ratings evenif its only 5 k. Just to be fair.

Correct, Victorian regionals are included and theyre zero consistently. If the Victorian regionals are zero theirs not a chance in hell that Tasmania, wa or sa register anything.

Sky NZ is no different to Foxtel. It is a market of the NRL's just like Foxtel or CH9. Sky in not a market of the AFL.

As for the the 2nd channel regionals , im not so sure there counted with the others. I'll be swayed by you on this, however removing them would have a far greater impact on AFL Numbers.

For regional numbers? The NRL is shown on the secondary channel only in AFL states, so these figures shouldn't be be added to ch9 figures and then multiplied by 66% for the full regional figure. Gem wouldn't get any regional figures in AFL states.

Where as 7mate would get lots in WA.

The reason I just don't Just lump the 7mate/gem numbers with the Metro numbers is because they need to be treated differently. If there on 7mate they attract viewers from NSW/Qld and some are regional. Because Nsw/Old have a larger regional area, they have more regional viewers (2/3). This doesn't apply to W.A(1/3).

And naturally Gem are the same. There numbers may be less but they still should be treated the same. The regional areas Gem goes to are smaller , so 1/3.

Then Wa Sa and tasmania and nt are not a market for NRL. You have a TV contract for these areas the same as AFL has a TV contract for NZ. But you dont have teams there. Its a pretty stupid argument in my opinion. We should be looking at TV rating for oz for both codes or OZ and NZ for both codes. The NZ is NRL market for TV is a crap argument. AFL also have a TV contract in NZ. If your argument is team based then we could argue that NRL dont have a team in WA or SA or tasmania.

As for the scondary channels being used to add regionals. I have no issue with you doing it, if they havent alredy been added as they have been in the case of the 512 regional oztam rating for the opening NRL match. Oz tram includes regional vic and SA so they are in the 512 rating only WA is not so 1/3rd of 3 is 1 for the regional WA rating, but if you do that then you need to add an extra bit for our ratings that are missing from WA and tas despite the 1/3 added for WA the actual numer is bigger then this on the final count when WA regional and tasmania are added.
Regional OzTam doesnt include tas regional WA and the diary markets mosly all NT and small sections of regional SA, vic, south western NSW and western Qld. All up a bit over 2 million people missing from the ratings initially. They are added at the end of the year when they are counted.
