Put the SoO on a Saturday afternoon and see what it rates. 3 million would be a stretch, heck so would 2.5m.

When was the last time WA or SA held an AFL GF? Never. The point that was made was that AFL GF > nRL SOO.

It would smash what the SoO get on Wednesday night if it were on then. Do you really think 800k will tune into SoO on a Saturday afternoon? No, they won't.

Rabbit wrote:Gold Coast Suns ruckman Zac Smith says Q-Clash can be as big as NRL State-of-Origin
From: News Limited Network
April 11, 2013 11:21AM
"THIS match has the potential to be like Origin.''
With those words Suns ruckman Zac Smith declared a no-holds-barred war in Saturday night's Q-Clash against the Lions at Metricon Stadium.
Brisbane spearhead Jonathan Brown, who has carved a career from shock-inducing collisions, has already endorsed the two contests with the Gold Coast as his club's biggest challenge for the year.
"The fact it's a derby does put a bit more emphasis on this game,'' Smith said.
"I doubt it would be as big as the derby over in the west (between West Coast and Fremantle) but it's getting there.
"I love watching those games because you can see the teams leave nothing in the tank.''
The 205cm Queenslander knows the meaning of footy war, having been fed a diet of Origin intensity while growing up in Rockhampton.
AFL in the Sunshine State got the best leg-up possible when the fledgling Gold Coast pulled off a maiden derby heist two years ago.
Smith starred at the Gabba that night and while Brisbane has restored the natural balance in the three clashes since, the pride oozing from the battlers that night can't be erased.
"I think (rugby league's) Origin is amazing and hopefully one day it will get to that level because the hatred (between the clubs) is growing and we are still considered the little brother,'' he says.
"That first Q Clash was one of the most watched games (of AFL) in Queensland and it was a great match and a great night for the club.''
Adding to the drama is the fact the Suns claimed the big scalp of St Kilda in Round 1, while the Lions have a doughnut in the wins column.
"We know they are going to be very hungry,'' Smith says of Michael Voss' side.
"But I've been here (at the Suns) since day one and I see how far we have developed in that time. We had that great win against the Saints and then pushed (premier) Sydney last week.
"Our aim for the year is to keep winning because it's the best feeling in footy. So it's going to be a good test for both teams.''

It is just idiotic to make those statements. Their biggest game of the year, where the flag is unveiled, is on par with just game one of SOO let alone the whole series. F#cking ********, they're a breed unto themselves!
FMD there own self worship will be there down fall, FMD delusion of grandeur is a understatement.
Reality is that SOO out rates the AFL grandfinal, now if these GCS players would get of the pot plants then we would not have these absurd claims.......
Re: Delusions of grandeur
Unlike the AFL this match means everything to 55% of the population, means more then any single game in the AFL could ever dream of..............Stewie wrote:Unlike Origin, the result of this match actually means something for the competition.

Pies you need to do some self observation, you idiots in 100 years will not have Queer clash larger then SOO.piesman2011 wrote:The words used include "can be" and "potential". It's also just one queenslander's opinion. There are to many RL fans quaking in their boots around here over nothing. Pull your heads in boys.
FMD GAYFL actually think they have anything that comes close to SOO..................

Surely if SoO meant everything to NSW, they would have sold it out by now? Half the tickets still remained a few weeks ago, soon they'll be going half price like they had to do a few years back.

Re: Delusions of grandeur
I think it was a silly statement , but so too is the comment that AFL has no interest on the GC. It has plenty of interest ... From locals, to people who have moved from AFL states, to plenty if kids playing the game. But to compare to origin probably not a good marketing ploy as everyone would just laugh and doesn't do anything for the game. I think I know where he is getting at but misses the point. As for crowd, I would say about 15000 which is good for a growing code in an nrl area. Also, sOo is the premier game for the nrl ... No other game in this state garners as much interest ... Not even the GF.
