Firstly, the AFL have have only had 2 rounds compared to the NRLs 5.

Then, the AFLs FTA game goes for 3 hours, so the AFL have actually got 16761 ratings hours, compared to the NRLs 30544 odd.

Lastly, ch7 paid an appropriate amount knowing all of their games were simulcast with foxtel. They knew their ratings would be affected yet still paid the big bucks. =D>

You are right, neither code can really compare. Your 3 FTA games are all available to every market. Our 4 FTA games actually involve 9 games, but other than Friday night, are only seen by sections of Australias audience. Some games are only seen by one city. Most are simulcast with another FTA and Foxtel games at the same time.

In the end though the NRL audience can see 7-8 games per round, and the AFL audience only 5-6 games. It amazing we still win the cummulative ratings by so much
