http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news ... 2hla4.htmlStatistics from the opening five rounds of the season show the gap between the haves and have nots of the NRL could be on the increase.
Last year, just seven games across 26 rounds ended with a team scoring no points.
But already in 2013, six teams have failed to trouble the scorers.
The average margin of victory has also risen from 10.2 in 2009 to 15 this year, with the likes of the big-spending Sydney Roosters, Manly, Gold Coast and a star-studded North Queensland side all recording shut outs.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Hmmm, a little help here KE. What can we do about the growing gap between the haves and have nots in the NRL. Seems to be getting more lopsided by the year.Xman wrote:http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news ... 2hla4.htmlStatistics from the opening five rounds of the season show the gap between the haves and have nots of the NRL could be on the increase.

Just imagine how big the gap would be if they actually expanded and created 2 new teams.

Do you really feel that that is the correct term? I think you mean that they are young and developing, rather then basket cases.
No doubt a few teams struggled in 2012, however you have used the term "the most lopsided year ever (all time) in Australian sport". Firstly how did you come to this conclusion? You got any evidence comparing it to say the 1912 NSWRL (or whatever it was called) or did you just pull that one our of your nether regions? Ive already shown percentage wise the NRL season was more lopsided in pervious posts (dig them up if you want to).
So when I compared AR scores to RL scores and tried to show them in a similar light, I was according to you comparing apples to orranges and according to you im not allowed to do that. The sad thing is that you seam to have no problems using terms like "the most lopsided year of Aussie sport ever" with no real stats. looks to me like you are comparing apples to oranges,to mangos to watermelon, etc, etc, when you compare AR season 2012 to every sporting competition in OZ ever. However this is ok for you to do for some reason.

ort and brisbane who look little better than the grog bog i pooed out this morning. They've got atleast 5 years of nothing left in em. And then we have the western bulldogs of 2012, they were shite too but I'd be conservative and suggest that the sixth basketcase will chop and change from year to year as a normal wooden spooner might so by the definition you give above pies, id have to say there's only 5 basketcases in the AFL. While this may be only 30 odd percent of the comp, it means that more than half the games of most rounds are dead rubbers. As was the case all last season.
As for the most lopsided sporting comp in aussie sport ever, ive always suggested this may be the case, rather than stating it outright because i dont have proof of that one. But, mind you, it'd hardly be surprising if im right that it has been the most lopsided comp in aussies professional sporting history. :D By the way i think the 1912 nswrl comp cannot be considered a 'professional' comp. But hey, given the stats last season with approx a third of the comp utter basketcases I wouldnt be surprised if there's been a handful of top level amateur comps in this country which have been more lopsided than the AFL comp of 2012

Nah you need more than just poor expansion policies to pull that off.

=D> Well done pies. Thanks for finding my quote, as asked. And a superb quote at that. I never did say "port and brissie and the bulldogs" would be basketcases for a long time, as I thought. I just said port and brissie and melb would be, for the next 5 years or so. I also mentioned the basketcase league's teams will chop and change for some time to come.piesman2011 wrote:King-Eliagh wrote:When did I say port and bulldogs would be bc's for a long time? So what exactly have you found here pies? Not much at all really. So far last years basketcase league still look shite. Even the western bulldogs. Apart from the GC, not one of the six basketcasers I predicted correctly last season have had a win against a team who was not listed in last years basketcase league.

Oh and Xman I saw your pathetic article. Laughable and another premature ejaculation. No understanding or appreciation of what good defence is in sport. But hey, if you really believe that trash then why not put this thread up as a sticky? Chicken?

The AFL - Remains the most lopsided competition in Aussie sport until KE says it aint.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
It is a very high mark the NRL is at when it comes to how close and even this comp is...
So we may be a little down on last year but i can the tell you we are still miles ahead of the VFL when it comes to a even playing field.
AFL the most lobsided comp in the world, we will wait and see the basketcase league will appear just give it a phew more rounds.....

Great call KE, sticky this thread xman you pussy we dare you........

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
NRL has had about 15 blow outs from about 40 games compared to AFL which has had 4 out of 18. Come on eels have a closer look.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
In Adelaide and Perth you gimp. If the nRL took the AFL approach and set these teams up with shit lists initially that would turn into brilliant lists within 5 years, the amount of blowouts they would have in the early years would increase sharply. As Adelaide and Perth don't give a shit about that lame pommy game, crowds and interest would reach new lows. Of course the nRL could take the Storm approach and find private owners for these clubs to make sure they finish top 4 every year just so the interest is there, leaving old teams like Parramatta on the bottom.Raiderdave wrote:Stewie wrote:Just imagine how big the gap would be if they actually expanded and created 2 new teams.
