More than one million viewers watched Collingwood's much-anticipated clash with traditional rival Carlton at the MCG on Sunday on television, making the match the first Sunday game to exceed one million viewers nationally since 2009.

Collingwood's 17-point win over the Blues was watched by 1,036,086 fans around Australia as well as the 84,247 fans that packed the MCG.

Right, weve already had more fans attend our games in 2 rounds than your entire first 5 rounds. Hows that for inadequacies?

As already said before, the NRLand ch9 target FN with multiple games using matches involving teams from multiple markets, usually the Broncos because embarrasingly for the NRL they are the only team for 2 million people.

Ch9 /nrl have two live matches and two markets. One of the markets get one live match the other one gets one live match. That isnt that difficult to understand - at least it should'nt be.

Both matches overlap or are concurrent (or whatever else you might like to call them).
But unlike you, I do not feel the constant urge to rave on with excuses trying to cover up and hide the short comings of my game.

Oh and I understand the NRLs FN schedule very well. I just find it funny you guys accept they add two games together yet refuse to do it for our games

The AFL on the other hand are happy to share the FN game more liberally and let more teams benefit from the increased exposure. If that means they are out rated on FN, well so be it. Its not like they couldnt do the same thing and get more viewers. Where they may lose out on FN for 1 hour of ratings they win in spades for the rest of the weekend.

FRIDAY night football will be off limits in the push to equalise the competition's riches.



AFL boss Andrew Demetriou said the showpiece Friday night match would not be shared around to help cash-strapped clubs.

"We have given a commitment under our broadcast agreement and our anti-siphoning agreement with the government that the best game will be on Friday night," Demetriou told the Herald Sun.

"And the clubs all accept that they have to earn the right to get a Friday night game."

ThinkTV says 1.154m, including 414k regionals,
OZTAM says ch9 740k, GEM 47k + 414 regionals = 1.201m

Some of the other Brisbane games are a bit over-estimated as well. Interesting that OZTAM have increased their Brisbane metro population. I wonder whether their regional numbers in QLD are now less meaning games involving Brisbane have more metro but less regional ratings.

No, totally different. The AFL share it **** many big teams, not the same biggest club every week. The NRL target the Broncos for ratings because they know it covers 2 million people in one game.
