AFL players Jeremy Howe, James Frawley and Lynden Dunn asked to leave Boxing Day Test at MCGMark Buttler and Alex White Herald Sun December 27, 2012 12:01AM

AFL footballers were asked to leave the MCG in heated scenes during the Boxing Day Test.

Current and former Melbourne footballers had been enjoying a get-together in the legendary Bay 13 but things turned sour late in the day.

A group including high-flyer Jeremy Howe, star full-back James Frawley and their old teammates Jared Rivers and Ricky Petterd soaked up beers and sun during the afternoon.

Howe barracked enthusiastically during the afternoon, generating rancour with some other fans.

Witnesses said they held aloft a long "beer train" made of empty plastic glasses in the period before there was friction with another patron.

That fan became upset after allegedly being hit by a beer mug and remonstrated with Petterd, who recently transferred to Richmond.

They pushed and shoved in heated scenes before security and police moved in about 5pm.

One man was escorted away to be ejected before officials turned their attention to the players.

At one stage, an angry Rivers was separated from another man by security and other patrons as he was led up an aisle.

Moments earlier he had exchanged angry words with the same man.

The group - minus Petterd - was then marched from the ground without further incident.

The witness said he was surprised to see the group sitting in the area.

"Most AFL players don't sit in the old Bay 13 building beer trains," the witness said.

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney confirmed a group of players was asked to leave. But Mahoney said the players were **** a large number of patrons told to get out.

Crows fitness coach Andrew Young on assault chargeBryan Littleley
The Advertiser
December 26, 201210:30PM

THE newest member of the Adelaide Crows fitness coaching team faces assault charges after an alleged drunken city pub brawl early on Saturday morning.

Andrew Young, appointed as Adelaide's strength and conditioning coach last month, was arrested at the Union Hotel, Waymouth St, about 1.40am after allegedly assaulting a hotel manager.

The former fitness coach at English Premier League team Fulham had been at the hotel with Crows coaches Brenton Sanderson and Matthew Clarke and their partners when he was asked to leave.

An altercation occurred and the hotel manager received bruises and a chipped tooth. The hotel closed immediately afterwards.

Adelaide Football Club media manager James O'Connell said the club had launched an investigation into the incident but made it clear that Sanderson and Clarke, who had arrived at the hotel with Young, had left the venue before the alleged fight.

"There is a police investigation and AFC will do its own investigation . .. that is the only comment we're prepared to make at this time," Mr O'Connell said.

Witnesses said Sanderson and Clarke were well behaved and had appeared to be enjoying a quiet night with their partners.

Police confirmed a man aged in his 40s was arrested in relation to the incident and said a man was treated at Royal Adelaide Hospital for injuries.

Collingwood midfielder Marley Williams faces assault charges in Western AustraliaGilbert Gardiner Herald Sun December 27, 2012 5:36PM

YOUNG Collingwood midfielder Marley Williams has been charged with assault in Western Australia.

Williams, 19, is set to appear in court at a later date following an alleged incident at a night club in Albany last night.

Police allege Williams was one of two 19-year-old men at the club who were allegedly involved in an argument around 1.30am (WST) this morning.

The other man was ejected from the venue and when Williams left, he saw the man outside.

Williams is then alleged to have punched the man who was taken to Albany Regional Hospital with a broken jaw.

Collingwood this afternoon confirmed charges had been laid in a statement.

"As this is a police matter the club will be making no further comment at this time," the statement read.

Williams was taken with pick No.35 in 2012 rookie draft.

But he was promoted to the senior list after the Magpies lost enforcer Luke Ball to a season-ending knee injury.

Williams played six games in 2012 after making his debut against Adelaide in Round 9.

Craig Field on the other hand..... 8-[

25 years minimum he should get, but the corrupt NSW Police Force and court system who would be looking at the amount of money paid to them by the nRL right now will sweep it under the carpet as they always do.

He didn't inject her you fucking ******! If he was even there at all, all he did was supply them and not force her to take anything. That isn't even manslaughter.

Craig Field is a rotten criminal and should get jailed for a long time, but the nRL and corrupt state of NSW will have something to say about that just as they did with the 2004 Can'terbury rape.

Has he been charged and sentenced for murder yet?

If not, stewie should pull his head in and think before posting.

It's all good this fun and games stuff to bag each others code of footy, but ffs, use your brains in regards to shit like this.

That's all I'll say until the scumbag is either jailed or let free.

Okay - both codes have their bastards and to say otherwise is bullshit.

Where it counts is what the codes do about it.

What's the bet those players at the MCG get off scot free?
